Truelson, Condors part ways ... again

After amassing just four points in 15 games, Kevin Truelson’s on-again, off-again relationship with the Condors this season is over.
The Condors coaching staff and Truelson met early Tuesday morning and coach Marty Raymond said he will be suspended Wednesday.
“The coaching staff and myself didn’t think it was working out the way it was supposed  to,” Truelson said. “They wanted to have a meeting and I was somewhat in agreement (with what the coaching staff had to say). It wasn’t working out the way either one of us wanted it to.”
It is the second time this season that Truelson, who was in this fourth season with Bakersfield, have parted ways. The first was a few days into training camp when he told Raymond he no longer wanted to play.
That changed in mid-November when Truelson expressed interest in rejoining the team. Raymond and Truelson came to terms and the offensive-minded defenseman played his first game on Dec. 3, netting a goal and an assist against Alaska. He had a goal in his very next game but contributed just one assists in his last 13 games.
That is by far and away Truelson’s worst drought with the Condors as he posted 151 points in 182 games over the previous three seasons.
“He’s been a good player for us for years but for whatever reason it isn’t happening (this season),” Raymond said. “Kevin Truelson is the most talented guy we have and he should be dominating.”

That right there says it all.  Here's a guy who has all the skills  and only plays at 50%-75% most of the time.  That's always been one of my biggest gripes.  Nice guy off the ice, but frustrating as hell to watch play.

Are we to expect the rest of the team will be dismissed shortly for slack playing? I don't think I've seen a game this season where these guys gave 100% for the whole game. Sure, a period here, a penalty-kill there, but never for a whole 60 minutes. I've seen games where they could barely score a goal during a 5-on-3 power play. I've seen them spend a whole power play on their own side of the ice, skating in circles waiting for...... well, I have no idea what. Maybe for the other 5 players to get tired and fall down simultaneously?

Far from picking up on the hard-charging play they showed trying to eek out a playoff spot last season, this year has been pathetic all around. Coach Raymond should be fired for nothing if not for uninspired coaching. This blog says it all. Players start out playing hard for the team, but after a week or two on the squad they slow down, quit pushing themselves, and turn in middling to average performances week after week. This isn't just a problem with Truelson. This is a problem from the head down. Truelson is a symptom. There's a sickness here, and it won't end with the amputation of a finger.
