Kim brings scoring touch and question marks to Condors
The much-traveled Alex Kim arrived in Bakersfield on Tuesday and will make his Condors debut against the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday. Kim is an offensive talent who has a rap of being a "me" guy who doesn't get along well with others. He has the ability to excel, as he did in San Diego last year — 38 points in 24 games and a team-high plus-17. The plus -17 is an indication that he certainly can play on both sides of the ice. However, he never did gel in Long Beach where, as captain, he played in just five games and was traded to the Condors for cash. The Condors already have an assortment of "castoffs" on the roster. The question is, will Kim fit in with the other "misfits?"

What's up with the Condors security running a metal detector over every fan before games? It seems a bit harsh for a minor league hockey game. It isn't usually done in the NHL, so why is the rabobank arena more of a threat? Can you please find out what's up? There are lots of fans that feel like they're being hassled at the doors and staying home because of it. posted by

I watched Alex Kim play many times at Colorado College, when I lived in Colorado Springs. I'm looking forward to seeing him play with the Condors. I don't know about his personallity or propensity to rub people wrong, but I can understand if he might be a little bit frustrated with his career so far. If he does fit in here, he'll undoubtedly perform very well, and will therefore not stay here long either. Many of his CC classmates are playing at higher levels, and he should certainly consider himself to be of at least equal skill. posted by

The Condors are not affiliated with an NHL team. As for the wanding at Rabobank, I thought that was reduced or halted. I'll check tonight. At the Staples Center in LAsall fans pass through a metal detector as they enter the building with security waiting to wand if needed. That is the same situation at the new arena in Glendale, Ariz. where the Coyotes play. Mike Griffith posted by

It's great to hear that former Condors goalie Fukufuji is now playing in the NHL. Hopefully he'll get to start a game soon.
