A lackluster effort in a 6-1 loss at home to Alaska on Tuesday night has resulted in some changes for the Condors. Is there anything more frustrating than watching a Condors power play this season? There are a multitude of little things that never seem to go right — no one in front of the net for a rebound; shots that are easily blocked by defenders or sail wide or high; a lack of movement; positioning that make it easy for penalty killers and the inability to consistently win draws. A week before the ECHL season got under way, the top brass from the office came into Bakersfield where a West Coast officiating camp was being held and talked up the “new standards of officiating.” The new standards are supposed to eliminate much of the “gray” areas and create consistent officiating.
