The Fresno Falcons hockey team has shut down operations, the club announced on Monday.The Falcons, who were scheduled to play in Bakersfield on Saturday night, become the second ECHL team to fold this season. Augusta, Ga., ceased operations a few weeks ago.

The Condors have acquired center Brett Pilkington from the Trenton Devils for future considerations.
Pilkington, 24, is a third-year player who started this season with Elmira before being traded to Trenton. He has one goal and eight assists in nine games with the Devils. He will arrive in Anchorage today but will not play in tonight’s game against the Aces. He should be in the lineup on Friday.

Matt Caruana was called up to the Iowa Chops of the AHL on Monday, leaving the Condors without three of their top four scorers due to injuries and call-ups as they prepare to head to Alaska to start a three-game series against the Aces on Wednesday.
Caruana is third on the team in scoring with 14 points. Leading scorer Mark Derlago (20 points) is in Manitoba; Dave Bonk (16) points in on 30-day IR and leading defenseman in scoring, Andrew Thomas (8 points), remains in Iowa.
