With their coaching staff suspended and a fellow player in jail, (see stories in sports), it’s been a rough 48  hours for the Condors. But there’s no time for them to be distracted. The hottest team in the ECHL (8-1-1), which happens to be fighting for a playoff spot, as the Condors get right back into the frey tonight against the Alaska Aces. It’s a heck of a double-whammy and it will be interesting to see how the team responds. A month ago, it might have been...

The Condors concluded their part of the Hockey-Thon in impressive fashion, breaking open a tie game with three third-period goals for a 5-2 victory over Victoria. Bakersfield, which couldn't buy a win in January, is the hottest team in the league at 8-1-1 over its last 10. Dave McKee was solid in net for the second straight game which a real plus and the Mark Derlago-Dave Bonk-Chad Painchaud line had a game to remember, accounting for all but one assist. Derlago had three goals and two...

About the only blemish for the Condors in Saturday afternoon's (noon start) game against Victoria was the final outcome — a 4-3 shootout loss, after giving up the game-tying power-play goal with one minute left in regulation. The positives, the Condors are 7-1-1 over their last nine; they play with energy from start to finish; they are playing well defensively and goaltender David McKee had a good outing, stopping 31 shots (he had no chance on the game-tying goal by Wes Goldie)....

The 5th Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon to benefit Links for Life is about two hours away from getting under way and the north end of the parking lot across from Bakersfield Ice Sports Center looks like a mini-campground with about a dozen RVs spread about.       & nbsp;        One group already has a drink table set up and a fire pit going. The 3-Way Chevrolet Bunch is already in party mood as well with a couch...

Winning two games in a row isn't much to crow about, unless you've gone 18 games without doing so. So when the Condors gave up a two-goal lead early in the third period on Saturday night then came back to get the game-winner by Dave Bonk in a 4-3 win over Idaho, there was just cause to a little celebration. At 16-26-6 and five points behind Phoenix and seven behind Utah  in the race for the final playoff spot, there remains a big hill to climb. But just like last season when the...
