Effing Favre to Simply Favrelous

For almost the entire second half of the Minnesota-San Francisco game, I heard Brett Favre called every name my wife could conjure up. Her Scandinavian heritage really came out Sunday. There was a point, I think she was looking for a Ulfberht sword so she could gash our TV. It was comical, yet scary.

"I can't believe people are rooting for this guy. They're cheering for the anti-Christ." was one of the  more memorable of her remarks. Well of the ones, that are fit to print.

With every throw in the field turf, behind his intended receiver or even 5 yards out of bounds; I even started to believe her wild conspiracy theory.

Just what if in Week 8 or 9, Favre rips off his Vikings jersey to reveal a No. 4 Packers jersey and says, "The joke's on you! Long live Green Bay." Then proceed to walk out of the conference, escorted by his security detail, a society of Packers fans that have been living underground in Minnesota for years.

After failing to lead the Vikings to a touchdown winning drive in the game's final 4 minutes, my wife was convinced the fix was in. While I wasn't convinced about the fix, I was sure the game was over.

But it didn't take long for my wife (a loyal Vikings fan since birth) to go from effing Favre to Simply Favrelous. It was under 5 seconds or however it took for journeyman receiver Greg Lewis to secure Favre's touchdown pass and drag his right foot in the back of the end zone.

Favre Being Favre is exactly what Vikings fans can expect of their 40-year-old quarterback. Now, if I can just get my wife to understand.

I was not that surprised. Having watched and enjoyed Favre for his whole career I know not to count him out until the whistle blows.  If there is a way to win or tie a game in the final minutes Brett will find it. Amazing guy because he loves the game.  Every game is a sandlot game to him.

That game was a nail biter right to the last second. Seeing as though I'm a Niner fan, I was thinking effing Favre. By the way I think that is Fav Re. LOL

I too don't count him out.. I always hate it when he plays against the Niners...lol  A friend of mines son came into the room and said, "Oh this games over! Niners 3-0". I told him, "It's not over yet, don't remember how many times I have seen Favre come back"...  Sometimes, I hate being right!!

Was a nail biter!

I LOVED every moment of that game, only because it was so close, i love CLOSE POINTS games, way more exciting to watch.

As a Chicago Bears fan, I can tell you one person who would like to see the red neck drama queen carried off the field.

I just hate to see all these retirees come out of retirement, only have to slink off again -- for whatever reason.  Ya gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em.

you all love FARVE now...give him a few more weeks into the season, and look at his history of how he does WHEN HE DOESNT GO TO PRE  SEASON CONDITIONING (the last three years)

he will choke again this year, just like he did in late NOV and beyond with the Jets last year.   Yeah, he made the playoffs with GB a couple years ago, but you could tell he didint have it in the tank.....which is where conditioning comes in....

Maybe if Favre had played a decent game the previous 59:58 he wouldn't have to had been bailed out by one of he receivers making a great catch in the back of the end zone. I've watched him play a couple of times since joining the Vikings and he's not been good. His quarterback rating yesterday including the game-winning TD pass was 78.3 so I wouldn't gush about how well he played.  With a running back like Adrian Peterson in the backfield with him, Favre should be lighting opposing defenses up. The 49ers were geared to stop the run the entire game and Favre rarely made them pay. The guy used to be a very good NFL QB. He's not even average any more.

I'm obvious a niner fan and I said to myself its not over yet because as I've watched Farve as a packer going against us back in the day, i knew this game was far from over.  As i watched ever single second count down i knew the niners were coming really close to becoming 3-0 when there was 12 seconds left i was thinking watch he is going to just throw a bullet in the en-zone and someone might catch it watch. what happens the guy leaps up with two defenders on him and catches the ball with both feet just barely touching the ground. I know that wasn't a lucky throw but that was definitely a lucky catch IMHO. What a game that was, you have to admit the niners are starting to look pretty good so far this year, but i still think we should be 3-0 but were not that's ok as long as we make it to the playoffs this year. At least were doing much better than the Raiders. HA HA HA!!!!! GO NINERS!!

Also as for Farve i hate him only when he plays against the 49ers because he plays good, and overall i think for turning 40 he is still a great quarter back, i don't care what anybody say's..... As for my Niner fans don't worry we might have lost this one by luck, but i bet anyone we will make it to the play-offs regardless of record.

Not quite but I think he's an awesome football player.

He comes out every year and continues to impress.  "Brettfavring" is now a verb in hip-hop lexicon because his level of play has been so good for so long.  We'll probably never see another one like him.
