I don't get it......

posted by randomfactor on Jun 21, 2008 at 07:17 AM

I do.  She's advocating the death of people she disagrees with.

.

At the first such death her bumper sticker will have killed more people than cannabis has in its history.

posted by Linda2 on Jun 21, 2008 at 07:40 AM

Randomness,

It's just a bumper sticker, no need to get so dramatic. It must be a new side effect of illegal drugs?  lol..  Chill.

And this one is pretty cool...   Don't buy the "medical marijuana" lie!     Bumber sticker 2

posted by randomfactor on Jun 21, 2008 at 07:57 AM

Trouble is, Linda, *YOU* are the one who's lying.

.

Cannabis has never killed anyone; you can walk into a liquor store with a $20 and buy a lethal dose of alcohol.  You're fighting the wrong enemy.

"In 1999, DAWN (Drug Abuse Warning Network) data reported by medical examiners show that out of 664 marijuana-related deaths, there were 187 deaths where marijuana was the only drug reported."

posted by randomfactor on Jun 21, 2008 at 08:15 AM

And how many of those deaths resulted from marijuana itself?  Hint:  it's less than one.

posted by Linda2 on Jun 21, 2008 at 08:21 AM

No matter what is presented to Randomness, he will deny, deny, deny.... because that's what legalizers do!

Don't buy the lie!

Here's another one...

No way.

Hey, cuteness, LTNS.  I'm glad to see you take up the cause of the rainforests, though.  THAT's very worthwhile.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM  I always thought it was

"GROW YOUR OWN 'DOPE' PLANT A HUSBAND"

posted by johnburnssucks on Jun 21, 2008 at 08:28 AM

We know that, Linda. When we read his posts, we can thank our lucky stars, saying, "There but for the grace of genetics go I."

posted by johnburnssucks on Jun 21, 2008 at 08:32 AM

Witters, I had a bumper sticker during the Clinton administration that said, "Where is Lee Harvey Oswald when you need him?"

I also had one twenty years ago that said, "Lick Bush in '88", but that's another story.

Sorry but If someone is near the end of their life and pot gives them just a couple hours of relief and maybe helps to increase their appetite so they will live alittle easier..i don't see as to why everyone young and healthy should be on abashing campaign..I have a friend or two that its helping to keep alive and able to function

One of the main problems is that is too easy to grow and too hard for the government to regulate taxation...it was legal just a few decades ago...it has many more pros than cons in its medical use than to just  label it a 'Bad Thang' and toss it out as so much trash

posted by randomfactor on Jun 21, 2008 at 08:38 AM

Linda's poor grammar obscures the meaning of her poster, which could be better framed thus:

Think!

Why is Cannabis illegal

When it's so much less

Dangerous than alcohol?

(Of course, asking Linda to think is like placing the proverbial pearls before the mythical bacon-backed creatures.)

OMG,  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...not THIS one again.  This one always gets off in the realm of the ridiculous..on both sides.

No one wants to refuse MJ to a legitimate patient for legitimate reasons.  Trouble is, most of the MJ card holders didn't need it medically.  Do you people have ANY idea how many clients told me it was a joke?

I'll try to stay out of this one for the umpteenth time because it makes the top of my head want to explode.

Sigh..I guess it's no worse than the pet blogs, or the politics blog, or the religious blog.  It's just that so many people who don't work with addicts or addictive behaviour  just don't get it.

And please RF..no more milk comparisons...pleeeeeze.

How many of the "Good Drugs" come with sides??? Some of those commercials on TV make me laugh my buttocks off..First  they tell you how much it will help you followed with a long lists if medical disclaimers because they actually have the potential too mame or kill you rather than cure you...its not only ridiculous its scary..gee lemme think..do i wanna die in agony from liver failure or internal bleeding from all the pain meds or do I want to go out in a mellow state of mind suckin down a twinkie...you tell me which is better..

Doesn't anyone have ANYTHING new and interesting to blog about?  Nothing?  Nada?  Zip?  Zilch?  If today is going to be another one of those "let's hash and rehash (no pun intended) the same old tired crap" days then I think I'll clean my garage.  Maybe by the time I'm through somone will have sprouted wings in their back and flown off the Empire State Building or a new specie of ants will be found in the Congo or Amelia Earharts plane will be found or there will be an eclipse no one expected.  Geeeeezuz....something!  This is like going to a family reunion and listening to Uncle Whozit tell his same tired war stories.

Nancy.. if the poster didn't intend on including legitimate usage she probably should have mentioned it..could have saved us both an explosion this morning

Sioux...this has been going on periodicaly for the last year or so.   The pro MJ folks want it legalized unconditionally.  Some want ALL drugs legalized.  Some want to have coffee house type businesses where you can sit and get loaded legally.  (Gee look how that worked out for the rest of the world.)  Before this discussion is done you'll hear all of it.  And it gets ooooold.  I didn't spend the last 6-7 years studying this stuff and people involved in it to be told I'm full of crap.  I'm tired of trying to explain it medically and physiologically to people who have closed minds to it's effects.    It's as pointless as a political blog.

As for Linda, while I respect her efforts, slamming people in the face and smart ass comments just serves to alienate them rather than try to get them to open their eyes.

Sorry folks, just my opinion.

By the way..Im using my desktop..that laptop is a killer.  Is my spelling/typing better?

posted by AudreyB on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:03 AM

Nancy

I don't want it legalized unconditionally.  I never said that.  I want it legalized for medical use only.

Anyone who has seen a loved one suffer a prolonged terminal illness that could have been helped by marijuana would agree.

posted by AudreyB on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:06 AM

As far as Linda goes, she suffers from a lack of attention in her personal life so she seeks it "periodically" from the blog.  She doesn't seem to care what kind of attention she gets, just as long as SOMEONE pays attention to her.   That's why she's so confrontational.

I'd have sympathy for her if she wasn't such a B word.

BTW  any guesses on how long it takes her to delete me?

posted by Linda2 on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:08 AM

Nancy,

What I do and why I do it is my business, but there is a method to the madness. You're just going to have to take my word for it.....and until or if I decide to devulge that information,  your comments are out of line.

Hey siouxcityranch: A few weeks ago, there was a Congressional hearing on those TV adds for prescription drugs. They may become illegal again! They had a panel of folks who have been studying those commercials and discovering some interesting things; like the add for the nasal spray...the one with the bee flying around. They showed how the commercial was designed to make you hear the benefits and not remember the ridiculous list of side effects. How, you ask? Well, through millions of dollars of psychological research, that's how. They found that by having the bee hover while the side effects were stated, with the wing flash of the hovering bee clearly placed in your field of view, flashing at a precise rate per second, your brain's ability to use short term memory would be affected. Talk about serious advertising! Next time you see one of those adds, notice how something extremely distracting is going on when the side effects are read!

As for the other drugs...legalize them, tax them, and execute anyone who injures or kills someone else while using them.

Ironic that the FDA would allow Vioxx on the market, but worries that marijuana is harmful!!!!

posted by NancyII on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:11 AM

Not so Sioux.  I'm not stressed at all.  I'm just tired of this topic, and a couple of others taking up the entire blog.  We have so many interesting people on here and so many interesting things going on but none ever last.  When someone does post about something different it gets trampled in the political highway whether it's dogs, elections, or county clerks.

When you've been here longer you'll see what I mean.  I'd like to hear more about Catherine's camping trip and hopefully she'll get the pictures where we can see them but what do you want to bet it will be buried in no time?

People need to understand that because someone takes a strong stance on issues, blogs or life in general it doesn't mean the're angry or stressed.  It's just that, a strong statement or opinion.  When I walk away from this keyboard my thoughts go with me.  I do not dwell on things said here.  It would just be nice to come here and have a discussion about something different.  Look how much fun we have when there's a joke blog.  What's wrong with laughter?

Heh..one thing I know about blogs, they aren't that much different from news...if it bleeds it leads.  If it makes you laugh, it won't last.

Why is this a legal drug????

Hydrocodone is an opiate used as an anti-cough agent as well as for pain control. It is about six times as strong as codeine and comparable to morphine in potency

posted by Linda2 on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:19 AM

Well thanks for the tip Sioux, but you're not my type, call it a hunch.

I live in Turlock. Too far of a drive for nothing.

posted by NancyII on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:20 AM

Linda, this is a public blog.  If you feel my comments are out of line, delete them.  You DO have that control you know.  You and I are on the same side, I just don't believe in beating people over the head and expect them to pay attention to what I'm saying.  I don't care what your reason is, you're alienating people here and that, my friend, is counterproductive.

Audrey, that wasn't directed at you.  There have been some here who advocate unconditional use of MJ.  I have never said it shouldn't be used medically..not ever.  But it should be prescribed by a doctor..a real doctor.

What I do say is that most of the people who had cards, didn't need them.  Even they would tell you that.  Or some told me that I should say.  When you look around a room at clients and watch them snicker when talking about those cards it tells a lot more than the advocates will ever tell you.

I swore that I would save my last comments about it and just repost every time it came up.  Wonder if I did that..LOL.

I found it, although it isn't the long one.  My stance on marijuana.

I will repeat for every new person who comes on the blog, and for those who've been here for a while....

1.  Allow a legitimate physician  who treats all patients,  not just drug seekers, to write a legitimate prescription.

2.  Allow a legitimate pharmacist  to dispense that medication.

3.  The legitimate prescription  must be filled in a legitimate pharmacy  not in some storefront on Roberts Lane.

I have no problem with that.

Why is this a legal drug???? Audrey...This drug is exactly what I'm talking about..sure its helping  my friends temporarily but they will eventually have to cut it way back or stop taking it.. then what??

Linda does indeed want to shut down medicinal use of cannabis, due to her personal internal demons on the subject.

.

She has no problems with alcohol or tobacco being legal, however, even though both of those are more harmful to society and the individual than cannabis.
