MoneyTalks - > Money Talks -> The Gov's efforts to boost the economy
The Gov's efforts to boost the economy

Looks like eight areas of California will become Enterprise Zones. In plainspeak, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is interested in "revitalizing economically challenged parts of our state."

Businesses in the eight areas, if approved, would get various goodies in the form of tax credits for each employee hired, preference points on state contracts and other bennies.

There's a report on what good these zones do for local economies.

So who's included? Well, not Kern.

Here's the list:

Siskiyou County, San Joaquin County, East Los Angeles, Salinas Valley, Kings County, Oakland, West Sacramento and Santa Ana.

But makes you think Kern might need a boost too.

Siskiyou County? There's a safe place to promise economic revitalization. Opening a new baitshop would be considered a major boon. But hey, when you're making promises with no money to back them up, you gotta think baby steps. Humboldt was a near miss, but there are a few cities here, so I can see why Arnold went with Siskiyou.

Money says:

But makes you think Kern might need a boost too.

TK says:

You know the answer to that. Why try to hide it.

We got the TRIP money. The Thomas eternal curse.

We are in last place forever and ever at the soup kitchen. It's Ground Hog day forever in Kern County.

With unemployment rates, pre economic slowdown, at levels at and above 20% in areas of Kern like Delano, Arvin, Lamont, Wasco, etc., it is hoped that these "enterprise zones" get extensive coverage in the Tijuana Times and the Guadalajara Gazette.  Let's get the word out on that ground hog day soup kitchen scenario too.

Driller,

I take back the Ground Hog Day comment and raise you a Backwards Day.

We agree again!!!!!

January 31st every year. Is Backwards Day.

True.

Now that's weird!

A feeble attempt at best.  But atleast you did try.

Hey Money, Why not explain to Kern County how the economy works???  We can't help fix what we do not understand.

Or maybe you should just put 99% of your stuff in the Classified add section!

Nationalization.

Why do we pretend it is bad. Why do we pretend that it does not exist in America. When it has been in Kern County and Bakersfield for  a century.

Would the thought ever come to mind that our Sewer districts should be made a private entity?

San Diego, Los Angeles and Sacramento all have municipal Water and Power districts. No matter your consternations. These are in effect nationalized entities that serve the public because no other can do the job better.

These three thrive in the midst of what are some of the largest for profit districts in America. And they provide more reliable and cheaper services.

If you Google municipal sewer, water or power districts. The lists go on. And On And On....

Yet to Nationalize a foreign national Petro Corp during wartime seems to leave a sour taste in many peoples mouth.

I can not for any reason see why.

Is it that because of History. The Ringing of the words 'American Made', still sound true to many. Especially in Kern and other oil producing areas.

Sure the oil is in our soil. But is pumped out of our dirt. Then abused by the Multi National petro CZAR. Refined and exported from our nation at the expense of our National security during a time of war.

When will we set greed aside and proclaim Security as the title on the post card card that outlines our thoughts..

Ron Mexico,

In a true capitalist nation Your scenario is wrong again. No part of Capitalism allows for one group to amass all of the wealth. That is a fiefdom.

In capitalism the farmers are to protect the rights of the Villager. And the Villager is to protect the rights of the Farmer. In this way they are able to promote commerce and create a better economy for the Nation.

Adam Smith presented HIS Capitalism. The only TRUE capitalism in a book called. ''An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (1776).. Notice it not named the Wealth of Ron Mexico. Or the Wealth of the Petro Czar.

He recognized that Capitalism is not government. It is a form of an economy that supports THE NATIONS economy.. That capitalism can not survive outside of society, laws and government. And that those structures must be protected at all cost.

Under Adam Smith capitalism, each entity. Each individual MUST return to society/Nation in proportion to it's benefit from society. No one is allowed to monopolize any portion of the society, or commit any act that would reduce the relevance of society.

Adam Smith was a deeply religious man And wrote strongly about his believes and the need for proper morality in society and it's economy. You may also want to Read Adam Smiths, “The Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759)'. (you can google these books and read them on line or go through my posts and find the links within them)

So you might figure out on your own. He was strongly opposed to monopolies and said so..

Now Mexico, I have no problem with you inventing an economy. I just don't like it when you call it Capitalism. Practice your economy allll you like. But an economy of one man gets tiresome in short order. And is usually booted from the dominant economy.

Some might call that Nationalism. The redressing of the offender in a suit more suitable to the palate of the Nation...

By the way. Consumption is down. People are not willing or able to continue to fall prey to the petro Czar. Our Nation is at risk..

America has always, at time of war, recognized the needs of the Nation. Americans have always partaken in Rationing and Nationalism of product at a time of war.

It is at this time of war that you Ron Mexico show your true unpatriotic colors. You fly the flag of the Multi National petro Czar, above the flag of our nation. A nation that has provided the opportunities for your wealth. You have turned these opportunities into something that now has the look of evil. A smile that resembles Greed.

Return your trust to America. Salute with pride the American flag. Wave O'Glory proudly again. And worship your higher power.

And let your higher power be a GOD that will lead you into eternity. Let not this higher power make you dwell in the sewers of greed that you have exhibited on this blog. (see Round One).

GOD bless Ron Mexico. You are in my prayer. May you see the light...
