Sixty cents gets you 25 miles

OK, OK, they only go 40 miles an hour. And yes, their range is but 25 miles.

But folks, we're talking about 60 cents for those 25 miles. Beats whatever you're getting in your gas-powered vehicle, no?

All this is according to Zap, a publicly traded Santa Rosa maker of electric cars and trucks (technically speaking, they're manufactured in China). Zap's plug-in Xebra model recently went on sale at a Visalia dealership, G&M Used Cars/Zap of Visalia, at 1234 E. Center Ave. The truck version retails for about $12,500, while the car goes for about $11,200.

So we ask ourselves: Who's in the market for these cars? If you're the kind of person who leaves town now and again, this can't be your only car. But if you have a fleet of cars for tooling around a limited campus, we don't see why they wouldn't work. Or if you live close to your job and don't need to take the vehicle outside the city.

Really, honestly, it's the colors that get us. Check out Zap's Web site.

How big is the back seat? What if you need to outrun the cops? Will it smoke the tires?

Naw, I'll stick with a BMW.

Hey who needs a car in the summer? I just bought an electric bicycle...... It tops out at about 18-30 mph has 2 batteries that are supposed to be 25 mile each with pedal assist. You dont have to pedal or you dont have to use the electric, but it gets you in shape slowly and is fun as all get out to ride..... I turned 50 this year and god forbid i try to ride a regular bike. This is a regular bike with a little help. In fact it is a real mountain bike it is made by IZIP. Check out the web site. It definately beats the gas crunch!!!!!!!!! IZIP makes all types of electric bikes and prices vary also, /i cannot believe that someone in Bako doesn't sell them....

I turned 50 on Sunday, and I still zip around like a madman on my mountain bike; in fact, I've worn it out and am shopping for a new and sturdier one. These roads will knock any wheel out of true in nothing flat.

Not a very cute car and looks like you'd crumple if you were in a accident.

A motor scooter makes more sense.

But Catpaw...a motor scooter won't keep the rain off of you.

Oh..I forgot.  We don't have rain.

The car looks like a meter maids vehicle.  I live about 3 blocks from a store and for the life of me I don't know why I don't walk there.  Too bad the 99 cents store isn't closer..lol..I could save even more money by walking.

My bike is a motor scooter. Its an electric motor scooter, just plug it back in when your done riding and its ready for the next ride. The chiuahua has learned to love it to. She has her personal basket on the front so she can get her biking excersise..lol I can only hop if the motor ever wears out I will be in good enough shape to keep on keeping on.....
