Franchisee: Hooters still planned for Bakersfield
The lack of construction activity at the future site of a Hooters has sparked rumors that the Atlanta-based restaurant chain may be rethinking plans for Bakersfield, but the local franchisee says the eatery is still coming to Rosedale Square on Rosedale Highway. The shell building is built and tenant improvement plans are proceeding through the county, according to Parco Holdings LP, which operates restaurants in Fresno, Sacramento and Hawaii. The company says full build-out will take about five months from receiving the building permits, which Parco Holdings anticipates “receiving shortly,” it said.

Whatever happened to the WalMart that was on the drawing board? Glad to know Hooters is on the fast track. Lots of jobs there. posted by

I'd rather see Hooters over Wal-Mart any day, pun intended. Just how many Wal-Mart does this town need anyway? Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against Wal-Mart. The store can't refuse service to people who don't respect public cleanliness or don't have any common courtesy. posted by

Walmarts will employ a lot more people than a Hooters. You don't see a whole lot of the people who work ther..only the surface. posted by

I, too, prefer Target but I'm not sure we need two more Targets in town either. I'm sure the residents near Riverwalk Park can back me up on this one... posted by

No, but they come in handy when your kid's sick. Of course, Wal-Mart *DOES* have a medical plan. They just spell it "Medi-Cal." posted by

Considering what the women in Bakersfield look like they should rename "Hooters" and call it "Heifers" instead. Hey, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? posted by
