Freed Pirate Hostage Blasts Limbaugh
So, Shane Murphy is safe at home now. I think we can all appreciate someone who doesn't like being used as political capital and when they are they aren't afraid to say so. http://www.thebostonchannel... Limbaugh is entitled to his opinion and people who don't agree with some of President Obama's domestic policies are entitled to theirs as well, but I think the president handled the situation appropriately. And I think Limbaugh was grasping at straws when he was attempting to make his argument. 18 comments from 9 users

No doubt about it. When Democrats do something right, Limbaugh gets irate. When Republicans do something wrong, he defends them. He's a dishonest person. posted by

That may be true, but in this specific instance I feel it was particularly disgusting that he got involved. posted by

We GET IT. We GET IT. You don't like Limbaugh. What a surprise. How many blogs do you need to shout that one? As a courtesy the second person to post a topic generally deletes his. Just good manners. posted by

I don't give a flying rat's hiney about what Rush said, and neither should you, NH. Why are you so obsessed? posted by

Funny how the new kids on the blog don't have any criticism for Al Sharpton calling the Pirates "voluntary coast guard". http://www.youtube.com/watc... I guess it doesn't fit the narrative. posted by

I've never been a big Al Sharpton fan. However, Rev. Al never said that the pirates were "the voluntary coast guard." He said that the pirates referred to themselves as the voluntary coast guard. Al stupidly followed that up with "which may be more apt." Wrong, Al. They were pirates. Happy, dril? posted by

Al Sharpton has said a lot of stupid things, many of which I have responded to, just not in blog or comment form because, as you said Driln, I'm a new kid on the blog. posted by

This just in! Obama administration releases pirate memos. Even though the pirates that were killed and the one seen sobbing in court were indeed black and teenaged, their leader has been identified as a eurocentric abuser of poor minorities. Obama has not ruled out a truth commission to look into this, but for the time being, is letting his AG investigate and decide what charges to bring.

what else would el capitan say knowing he was partly responsible for killing teens.naturally hes gonna make it sound like it was bigger than it was to cover his part in it..had they been seasoned soldiers I might have some sympathy for his situation..but young inexperienced boys..gimmie a break..they got in too deep and couldnt get out..an Obamas men couldnt allow them to go for fear of the world seeing the truth about his inhumanity in the situation..he used them to showcase some power to impress our enemys that were watching..it was the only card he had to play on his world tour..it was a pissin contest and he wanted to show the world how tuff he was at their expense.. I wish to apologize the their countrymen for his cowardly act.. posted by

I never apologize for something I had no control over. As for the teens, we're not talking about mall rats here. When you hold a gun on someone you should realize that someone just might not be coming to that fight with a knife. Rush had one thing right. If it had been a Republican president the libs would be all over him like stink on a dirty shirt. Speaking of, where is he? posted by

Rush may very well have been right on that point, but on the other hand, Nancy, if it was a Republican president the conservatives would never stop praising him for making a difficult but necessary decision to protect an American citizen and not make deals with people who are basically terrorists. I think it's a bit callous to disregard Obama's decision, SiouxCity, as a ploy to show his power. The situation with Somalia and pirates is a bit more complex than many give it credit for. It is extremely problematic; the Navy refused to make deals with Somali pirates for fear that it would set a precedent. If a deal would have been made with these men, all the pirates would have to do in the future to have their demands met is to take an American citizen hostage. On the other hand, if, like we did, we decided to use lethal force to free the American they held hostage we will have to face retaliation from other pirates and those that are sympathetic to their situation. And these are only the two most obvious repercussions of the two most obvious choices that could have been made. I'm not saying I agree 100% with the President's approval for the Navy to use lethal force. I'm saying that it was kind of insensitive for Rush Limbaugh to bring race into a situation that had absolutely no racial subtext. Like I said, the situation is very problematic, Rush could have explored many other aspects of the event without politicizing the situation so much. But he did, and that is his right, but Shane Murphy, one of the men directly involved, spoke out about what was said and made some very poignant points of which I agree. posted by

Poor young pirate boys armed with AK 47s and RPGs were just playing around and plinking at the U.S. ship. They wouldn't really have killed the Captain, they were just kidding around. Shame on Obama for taking them seriously and taking them out. They should have gotten a time out in their rooms for a day or so with no computer or Blackberry. posted by

Obama did the right thing, but only after handcuffing the Navy Seals for over 36 hours. 36 hours to make what common sense dictates should have been made by a true leader and defender of American citizens in a matter of minutes. Why couldn't the Seals take out the terrorists...er...pirates when the captain jumped out of the boat and started swimming away? Obama had not given the authorization to use force that the on site military experts had asked for, because he was worried how the world would look upon him for making a tough decision. That is not what a true leader does. Political Correctness is no way to make important decisions when it comes to National Security. What concerns me besides Obama's complete lack of experience as a leader (excluding his time with ACORN) is the fact that he has almost all of the boneheads from the Clinton Administration making decisions for him. Ya, they did such a great job with National Security back then. Black Hawk Down bring back any memories! One of the main complains about Obama before the election was his poor judgment. Just look at some of his speeches during the campaign. He constantly showed poor judgment in his comments and thought process especially when he thought he was OFF mike. Now, just look at his appointees. Geez! NHS head of Janet Napolitano? Just what experience did she have for this very important position? NONE! Political payback plain and simple. Holder as AG? Just read some of his past statements and this guy should be no where near that position. I could go on and on but it's useless, Obamanots will never listen to critics of Obama. They might have to come to the realization that they made a huge mistake making him their candidate and President. The bright spot in all of this is that he will make Jimmy Carter look competent! Don't get me wrong, Bush was a failure, except for the war and reducing taxes everything else was a failure. The spending like a drunken sailor and cow-towing to Liberals all the time, he showed he was NO Conservative. And McCain is worse. I hope in 2012 the Republicans don't allow the media and liberals to pick their candidate for President. Enough. I gotta go. posted by

The decision to take them out was absolutely correct as far as I'm concerned. As far as my comment about the mall rats above, you have to realize 15 year olds in war torn countries or poverty stricken nations aren't the same as a 15 year old from 90210. They have to grow up a lot faster. I don't like the thought of a teenage child getting shot and killed any more than the next person but here we have bangers who do the same thing...blow each other away...and we're supposed to let those "pirate"kids slide when they held a gun on an innocent victim? Nope.
