I'm glad to see that you have started blogging! I'm a young professional and  don't have a family.  I'd be curious to know what does the North of the River program offers for locals like me? I hope to see that in a future blog post.

I'm a grateful user of one of NOR's most useful programs, CTSA.

North of the River has awesome programs for youg people!  My daughter played NOR softball for 10 years starting at age 8.  By the time she reached high school she had become an awesome softball 2nd baseman and was on the high school team for 4 years - they won championship twice (I believe).  He boys now play baseball via little league in Carlsbad, CA and the oldest also plays on a travel team.  Those summers at NOR were great for her and for us - kept her off the streets!!!  I always recommend NOR to all parents I know of with little ones who need a summer 'to do'!

I wish NORRPD would reinstitute part-time afterschool care.  Several years ago, the district changed its policies to eliminate part-time afterscool care without the parents paying for full-time care.  It's unfair, and possibly illegal, to charge full-time rates for part-time care.  The district believes it's okay to over-charge for the services provided.  Go back to the old policy!

maryrusso.  Thank you for your inquiry concerning the programs that NOR has to offer.  We currently have many programs ranging -from sporting activities to performance arts.  The best way to find out if we have something that interest you would be to check out our website at www.norrecreation.org, e-mail our program coordinator Zach Miller at zmiller@norrecreation.org, or call the district at 392-2000.

Horatio.   Thank you for sharing your views about the availability of after-school care programs in the district.  You are correct in stating that it is unfortunate that NOR and of the school districts could not continue a partnership in providing part-time after-school care to its residents.  After many years in partnership some school districts decided that they would like to continue their after-school care programs without NOR assistance.  Although NOR still had a strong interest in providing after-school care to its residents, it couldn't continue its services without the proper, facilities, staffing, or funding.   This is a issue that will be looked at as during the updating of our master plan.

Again, thank you for your input.  If you have any question please give us a call at 392-2000.
