It's been seven days exactly and the search for Ace continues. When a neighbor's windchime sounds my ears still prick thinking it might be his tags jingling. Everytime I open the door I I anticipate his wagging tail whipping anything in reach as he excitedly welcomes me home....only to be greeted with silence.

With each passing day not only do I grieve, but frustration and fears mount, especially with the lack of support from my immediate community in Southeast Bakersfield. Bob Price's 4/20 column "Attitudes Cause More Pain than Missing Pet" in the Californian highlighted some of the sources of these negative feelings.

You would think that the experience of losing a pet, a friend, would resonate with people everywhere, transcending any differences. Instead, this past week has taught me a lot about human nature and why dog -- not man -- is man's best friend.

Fortunately, the greyhound and general animal lovers community has been overwhelmingly supportive - outweighing the negativity I've faced and helping me keep faith in finding my furry friend...though I have to say, it's going to take awhile to restore my faith in my fellow man. I can't express how grateful I am for everyone's efforts, support and well wishes for my Ace and me.

Any one who knows me, knows that I don't do anything half arse and finding Ace will be no exception.

I hope everyone else will also continue to be on the look out for Ace.

I live in the NorthWest, but will keep a look out for him anyway.  Good Luck.

Have you posted in the area around neighborhood schools?  Sometimes kids find animals and take them home intending to keep them without thinking about the possibility of a worried owner.  Someone may know of a friend of theirs that has suddenly acquired a dog.  Appealing to their emotions as your loss is truely that of a family member may help.  I don't know if the school would allow you to post on their premises, but it would be worth a try.  Unfortunately, a lot of people around here don't view their animals as family members and don't understand the emotional ties that bond the two of you.  Good Luck and don't give up.

I tried finding the article of Bob Price, couldn't find it.
BUT.. If anyone thinks that pets are not family do NOT deserve to have pets!

Great luck, I will also look for your pooch.

Thanks Jason... It was a great article. Those people don't know what it is like to have a family member go missing.

I put the flier on my site. I get many people in, I hope the 'right' person contacts me or her.
