Ppopgun - > Culture warrior -> Obama's birth certificate a forgery?
Obama's birth certificate a forgery?

The flap over Obama's qualification to be president is getting more interesting by the day. There could be riots looming if it turns out he indeed is a usurper to the presidency and hands over the reins to McCain/Palin or gets impeached. Leave it to a smart cookie like Janet Porter to ask the tough questions that the media somehow cannot bring itself to do:

But before I tell you what the experts found, let me ask you a few questions:

1. If you were a natural born American citizen and had it within your means to quiet all the lawsuits and questions with proof, would you do it?

2. If you were a natural born American citizen, would you spend thousands of dollars to fight the legal cases against you, or would you simply answer the legitimate question of whether you meet the constitutional requirements for office?

3. If you were a natural born American citizen, would you forge a document called a "Certification of Live Birth" and tell the public it was a real "birth certificate"?

Read more of her article titled "Rathergate II: Certification of Live Birth a Clear Forgery."

I can only think Barry must be peeing in his pants as he realizes his enemies are onto him and exposing his bogus pledge to make his the most transparent presidential administration ever.

I think, if you want to be a service to yourself and your cause you should first give up on flocking after the false promise of fear and demonization. This forgery thing was investigated and thrown out of court already by a respected judge. Read it for yourself at snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/polit...

Please see my blog here on bakersfield.com for further commentary about being cute or 'gotcha' in a serious political discussion also. I think the time has come for America to start pursuing politics with seriousness and maturity. Don't you?

Dirtyshirt, tell that to the Supreme Court justices who will look into this matter on one lawsuit  in which Obama has until Dec. 1 to respond to or another lawsuit (one deemed more promising) filed by a former lawyer turned professional poker player named Donofrio, who wants Obama, McCain and third-party candidate Calero all disqualified. That suit will go into private conference on Dec. 5 to decide whether to give it a public hearing. How's that for serious and mature pursuit of politics?

And that's not to mention the lawsuit filed by Alan Keyes and others to keep California's electoral votes from going to Obama until this matter is settled.

After all, the stakes are really, really high as Donofrio the poker player sees it. We're talking constitutional crisis, baby, and it ain't over until the fat lady sings -- once Barry quits stonewalling over his birth certificate. I've read the Snopes article. It needs a serious updating, buddy. Could this be the reason Barry and his liberal cronies are so eager to enact the Fairness Doctrine, to shut up the likes of Janet Porter?

P.S. If you can answer the many questions posed by Porter, I'll certainly give this a rest.

If there were really something to this, you'd think someone could offer up some reward money to anyone who could prove he was a citizen of Kenya, or where ever they think he is from. We all know money talks. Heck, I'd think his half Brother would rat him out for enough dough. If this is true, nothing will come of it after he is inaugurated. They better get to proven it...Not Likely Though... With the Clintons being so power driven they would have figured out a way to prove this by now if it were true.

Nothing like a little political paranoia to ring in the holiday season.

Ditto for a little political chicanery, and cynicism -- using his visit to Hawaii to visit his terminally ill grandmother as a way to get Gov. Lingle to block public access to his birth certificate. How's that for some good ol' shady Chicago-style politics? Perhaps he's the one being paranoid.

It is illegal for the Governor or anyone else for that matter, (even the Judge reviewing the Alan Keys case) to release the contents of Obama’s or anyone else’s birth record.    No individual has a vested interest in knowing the contents of a birth Record. Their interest can only be in the validity and existence of the record.   My father was born in 1917 in North Dakota. His along with thousands of other peoples birth certificates was destroyed in a fire,  For them there will never be a original birth certificate. This is not unusual. It in fact was a common experience. It didn’t’ seem to be a problem for him when he was drafted in 1941.   Obama has produced a copy of his record. And the Governor and DOH chief have both vouched for the validity of the record produced by Obama. They  have  repeatedly stated the record exists in the Records of the State of Hawaii.   Obama has produced a copy of his birth record. Obama could hand a embossed certified copy to Keyes and it would not stop Joe the Plumber from filing a complaint. Obama’s birth has been certified. It’s over.  At least until the next frivolous case is proposed. Ask John McCain.          From the Hawaii Department of Health..   How to Apply for Certified Copies of Vital Records All applications requesting certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates must generally be made in writing (application forms may be downloaded from this site - see below). Requests may also be placed for birth and marriage certificates on a limited basis through the Internet (www.ehawaiigov.org/ohsm). Telephone, FAX, or e-mail requests are not accepted. Fees for certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates are identical:   $10.00 for the first copy of each certificate, and $4.00 for each additional copy of the same certificate ordered at the same time.   There is an additional fee for requests made through the Internet as follows:   $1.50 for a request of one (the first) copy of each certificate, if the requested certificate is found, or for the cost of conducting the search, if the requested certificate is not found, and $0.25 for each additional copy of the same certificate ordered at the same time.   Fees may be paid by cash (except for applications made by postal mail), money order, certified check, or cashier’s check - make money order and checks payable to the State Department of Health. PERSONAL CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Fees must be paid by a charge to a credit card for requests made through the Internet. All fees for certified copies are payable in advance and nonrefundable. If no record is found after a search is conducted, the fees are retained to cover the cost of the search. Once an order has been received and processed, a $10.00 fee will be charged for any request to make changes to the order. Apply In Person Walk-in service is available: Effective October 13 to December 5, 2008:  Days - Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays) Hours - 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Location – Door to the left of the main entrance of the Health Department building, 1250 Punchbowl Street (corner of Beretania & Punchbowl Streets). Applications are available in this room and should be filled in before going to the counter. When applying in person, the applicant must show a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a State ID, driver's license, etc. Certified copies are usually issued while you wait when you apply in person if the record has been certified. If the certificate is not ready to be issued, certified copies will normally be available for pick-up about 10 working days after the request is approved. The pick-up time may be extended for records that are very old, because the search to locate the record may take longer, or in the process of being filed, because the official record is still being created. Apply by Mail Send mail-in applications to the following address: State Department of Health Office of Health Status Monitoring Issuance/Vital Statistics Section P.O. Box 3378 Honolulu, HI 96801 When applying by mail, the applicant must include a photocopy of his/her government-issued photo ID, such as a State ID, driver's license, etc. PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE REJECTED AND RETURNED WITH THE APPLICATION TO THE APPLICANT. Certified copies will normally be sent out within 5-8 weeks after receipt and approval of the application. The return time may be extended for records that are very old, because the search to locate the record may take longer, or in the process of being filed, because the official record is still being created. What Information You Should Be Prepared to Provide An applicant/requestor must provide the information needed to 1) establish his/her direct and tangible interest in the record and 2) locate the desired record. This will normally include: Applicant's name, address, and telephone number(s); Applicant's relationship to the person named on the certificate; Reason why you are requesting the certificate; Full name(s) as listed on the certificate; The certificate’s file number (if known); Month, day, and year of the event; and City or town and the island where the event occurred. For birth certificates, also provide the full name of the father and the full maiden name of the mother. If you are applying for a certificate on behalf of someone else, you must provide an original letter signed by that person authorizing the release of their certificate to you. Letters of Verification Letters of verification may be issued in lieu of certified copies (HRS §338-14.3). This document verifies the existence of a birth/death/marriage/divorce certificate on file with the Department of Health and any other information that the applicant provides to be verified relating to the vital event. (For example, that a certain named individual was born on a certain date at a certain place.) The verification process will not, however, disclose information about the vital event contained within the certificate that is unknown to and not provided by the applicant in the request. Letters of verification are requested in similar fashion and using the same request forms as for certified copies. The fee for a letter of verification is $5 per letter. Application Forms Application forms are available in a “fillable” Adobe Acrobat portable document format (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 (or later) is required for using the fillable forms feature.

The media, the bloggers, the hacks, all demanded Sarah Palin produce a birth certificate AND wanted DNA tests to prove her baby actually belonged to her and not her daughter but oh my, let's don't demand Obama produce HIS actual birth certicicate.

Now that might make it sound like I give a rats patootie about Obama certificate but I don't.  I don't doubt he WAS born in Hawaii as he claims.

I just don't like the double standards.

"All" demanded, Nancy?  The reason there was so much focus on the trivia surrounding Palin is that there wasn't any substance there.

But I'm glad conservatives found something to keep them occupied while the grownups are straightening out the mess.  Next week we're going to organize a snipe hunt.

Yawn.  This is so lame it hurts.  Give it a fricking rest already.

You know your [edit.] is weak when the only thing you have left to throw at someone, whom already won mind you, is this [edit.].

Does anyone, think it might be plausible that when you file to run for president, that they check one small detail, like oh, is this person a citizen?  As in, this is one of the major factors to make you able to run, we should check that?

Give it a rest already.  Talk about sore losers.  It is crap like this that will never bring this country together ever.

Ahh, proof positive that Obama IS the Nazi, Commy, Muslim terrorist that you all thought he was.

Hopefully the government will not find out that McCain is actually the half brother of Manuel Noriega and was adopted much like the Generalissimo in Panama.

As far as Palin not being the actual mother to that child, that is just plain ridiculous. Everyone knows that she IS the mother, and that McCain now has to make child support payments.

Listen to Janet Porter, she knows. She has already announced that all the Christians who voted for Obama should be excommunicated. And of course, everyone knows she is the official speaker for God.

posted by NancyII on Nov 26, 2008 at 08:27 AM

I'll concede it wasn't  "ALL", slip of the fingers there.  However, substance has nothing to do with the mean spirited personal feeding frenzy attacks on Palin and her family no matter who much you guys try to whitewash it.  You wan't to question someones political values fine..that's part of the process, but deep down you guys know what was dragged out had nothing to do with her political abilities or lack of.

That was a really ugly. dirty time in our political history and a sad commentary of the mindset of the left.  It's a time I have a hard time forgetting especially when you criticize people for demanding to see proof Obama is a citizen.  That's a far cry from demanding to know if a child really belongs to the mother and not the daughter.  One is yellow journallism, gossip, and smut, the other is questioning a persons right to hold presidential office.

Again, I don't question Obamas citizenship, I'm sure it's been verified by the powers that be, I'm just pissed that you guys get up in arms when so many of you (on the left) were a party to the most nauseating smear campaign I've ever seen.

And no, I'm not likely to forget it or get over it...and neither should any decent person.

Nancy, there were equally bad, mean-spirited, personal attacks on Obama.

The die-hard right wingers are now focusing on the kerning of a legally-provided birth certificate copy.  So be it.  When they focus on things like the economy, people lose their jobs.  When they focus on "national security," people *DIE*.

Words from the past...
Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) was a
leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential
candidate for the Socialist Party of America.

The Socialist Party candidate for President of the US , Norman Thomas,
said this in a 1944 speech:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under
the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the
socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation,
without knowing how it happened."

He went on to say: "I no longer need
to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The
Democratic Party has adopted our platform."

Tell me RF when was Obamas personal life called into question other than his citizenship and the ignoring of his relatives living situations?  Was his wardrobe or makeup discussed?  Did anyone question his childrens legitimacy?  Almost everthing personal about him was off limits but Palin was was wide open.   Even the fact that Obama himself said he wasn't sure his parents were married legally was just pooh pooh'ed and dropped like a hot rock.  I don't care about that either since it has no bearing on ones ability to run for office.  Palin wasn't given that same courtesy.

I ask again....Where was the PERSONAL smear campaign on Obama?

The rumors against Michelle Obama over room service at a hotel she wasn't staying at.   Repeated attacks on his "patriotism."  Corsi's swiftboat tactics about Odinga.    The "he's a Muslim" crap.   The fabricated "quotes" from his books.  The "whitey" tape.

You still don't get it.  Palin was attacked on trivia because she's *ALL* trivia.   If I were a prayin' man I'd pray that she gets front-runner status in 2012 because there's not enough helium in Alaska to inflate her into a valid candidate for national office.

Nancy, I completely agree with you about Palin. But were you so adamant when the republicans spent millions of dollars trying to dig up personal dirt on Clinton? And really, calling into question someone's motherhood isn't much different than calling someone a terrorist loving Muslim foreign born commy based on no apparent evidence dontcha think?

You can call us hypocrits, but I call it tit for tat, which has been the hallmark of these blogs for quite some time now. Before the man has even taken office, he is already being villified. Villify him after the fact, based on facts. We've had 8 years of Bush, he is an appropriate target. Come January, Obama will become an appropriate target. Aim accordingly.

It seems that people are afraid that Obama will do exactly what Bush has already done. Record debt, record spending, record size government, worse recession since the Depression, two wars, one of them unnecessary, etc etc etc.

Obama has a very tough row to hoe. Things could not be much worse and it's going to take more than 4 years to eliminate 8 years of setbacks. If McCain had won the election, I have no doubt that liberals would be posting tired crap about him just as this tripe is being posted. Neither side is immune to it. Personally I would take McCain over Bush anyday. I'm just glad we're finally getting rid of the Decider.

How many times has Obama been called a socialist on these blogs. Really? Raising the high end progressive tax from 34% to 39%, the same as Reagan averaged, is where we draw the line from Capitalism to Communism? Wow, that's pretty good analysis right there, being able to discern the difference with a range of 4%.

Oh, so it's up to Obama's enemies to prove he's not a natural born citizen? That's a hoot. Let me tell you something ... the questions being asked of him are legitimate and it's up to HIM to dispel all doubts about his qualification to be president. So far he has not conclusively proven that. So we are supposed to trust the words of those who could just possibly have a vested interested in keeping him in office without some verification that he indeed is qualified to be president? How gullible do you think we are? Just think, if somehow we find out that he was a fraud all along, that could nullify everything he did in office. Perhaps we will have Bush stick around until a replacement for this Kenyan usurper is found. Is that what you want?

Is it too much to ask of Obama to call in his dogs, namely three law FIRMS, and just turn over a simple piece of paper that the rest of us wouldn't have a second thought about doing to put all this to rest ... unless we have something to hide?

So ... Who let the dogs out {woof, woof, woof, woof} ... ?

Calling someone a socialist is addressing his political leanings.  That's a far cry from addressing someones parenthood which has NOTHING to do with her ability to work for the people.

THAT's what you guys don't get.  If you call her a fundalimentalist who will bring her religion into the White House then I could see you folks saying it.  It's the PERSONAL smut that I have a problem with and Obama did NOT have to answer the sort of questions Palin did.

I don't have a problem with anyone calling anyones ability into question.  That is NOT the point.  If you can't see the difference between political leanings and family issues then I don't know what else to tell you.  The parentage of Palins baby should NEVER have been brought up...Socialism is another matter as that affects us all.  Tell me how Trigs birth affects any of us other than good where special needs kids would have a spokesperson in the White House.

And he still refuses to produce that piece of paper..I call that arrogance in basically telling people "I don't give a damn what you think."  Fine..I still figure he's legit, I just don't see the need for the secrecy.  I don't have a birth certificate at all, I guess I could still run for prez without having to show my citizenship.  Or could I?

Calling someone a socialist is addressing his political leanings.

No more than calling a dog a cat addresses its "species leanings."

Palin's personal failings--and they are legion--illustrate her professional failings.  Her advocacy of the idiotic "abstinence-only" type of sex education was called into question by her daughter's pregnancy.   Her abuses of power in the Troopergate fiasco are indicative of what a Palin vice-presidency might look like:  personal vendettas settled with public power.

Obama's too busy trying to fix the mess that Shrub left us in to give a damn what the wingnuts think.

.

Oh, so it's up to Obama's enemies to prove he's not a natural born citizen.

If you want an ironic birth certificate situation that has nothing to do with pollitics, here's one for ya.   Ten years ago I had a real estate license.  No problem.  Last year I filed for SS and they accepted all my documentation without a birth certificate.  This year I went to reinstate my RE license and was told I now have to have a birth certificate as proof of legally being  in this country.  Didn't matter that I previously held a llicense or that the government accepted my presence,  nor that I had sent  them all my documentation used to file for SS.  When they were told I was unable to get a birth certificate they responded with "they would accept a passport."

HUH?  And I would get this passport how?  Now granted the passport people might also accept my documentation such as my first grade report card where Mrs. Walters said I talked too much (that should be proof enough right there) but by now my time has almost elapsed, I'm out $500 bucks already with no license and there you are.

Our federal government and state bodies at work.  And you wonder why I have no faith in the government?

Maybe I should petition McCain to pull some strings in his state since I had his sign in my yard.

Oh, for pete's sake. Isn't this thing buried yet? For starters, questions were raised about George Romney, Barry Goldwater and John McCain's citizenship, as well, having all been born abroad or in U.S. territories.

Regardless of the veracity of the birth certificate (and we have no valid reason to find it anything less than correct, certified and legal by anyone of average intelligence and relatively unbiased), the fact that Obama's mother was a U.S. citizen confers upon him natural citizenship rights, even if he wasn't born in Hawaii...which he was. From the U.S. State Dept.:

Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock: A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) INA provided the citizen parent was physically present in the U.S. for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen is required. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen are required for physical presence in the U.S. to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.

I don't doubt that Obama would like this silly mess to stop. He's probably wondering how many times he has to refute it before certain people will believe it. It's a non-issue, or should be. The fringe right is doing what they do best: grasping at nothing and attempting to make something of it, in the hope (and unfortunately, it's proven effective) that making enough noise about something long enough will warrant sufficient attention. Ridiculous.

And for that matter, I know when I went to get my original birth certificate, my birthing state didn't send it to me, either. They sent me a certified copy. That's all any of us will get. The original stays on file, if it hasn't been digitized and destroyed.

Figures this thing would be hyped by World Nut Daily. Note all the crap they have for sale, too...it's all a ploy to get you to buy stuff.

Nancy, are you saying you can't prove your citizenship?

Nancy, I had Mrs. Walters for first grade!  She said I daydreamed and didn't listen.  Wow, she sure knew her business!

Thanks for posting this.  I have been looking for it for most of the day trying to prove it since I thought I had read somewhere about this.

I think that most people just assume that in order to be a US citizen you have to have been born on US soil.  But, this is a clearly not always the case.  Of course, this is the most common way for one to obtain citizenship in this country (illegal aliens), so people naturally think it is the only way.  But then again, when the you live your life in a conspiracy theory, it is easy to neglect to point out all the real facts.  Facts by not providing truth isn't fact, it is a red herring.

Like I have said before, does anyone really think that it would have gotten this far if he wasn't a citizen?

Nancy-  My dad had a hard time getting a passport because he didn't have a birth certificate due to it being lost by the government.  He ended up having to get signed statements from my grandmother, aunt and then providing his military records to be allowed to finally get one.  It was a huge pain for him.  And your also right, family should be off limits. There was bad stuff on both sides of this argument though.  Just because some media outlets think it is right, doesn't mean it is.  Obama himself said family was off limits, and to my knowledge he kept it that way.

Nancy~ remember my passport travails? It took 10 kinds of "proof" that i yam what i yam,no matter that the "government" had accepted me all these years as me. I tell you folks~ get a passport,it will never be easier than now and the folks on Stockdale make the ordeal bearable.

I had to submit all my "birth" papers,CA I.D., my divorce papers,my SS card, a bill from a utility(?)...they sent me a list of ten "acceptable" kinds of verifiable ID~ and I sent in all 10. Still took them another 3 months and I missed my flight by one day.

Noone...exactly.  I can't prove my citizenship with a birth certificate but have plenty of other documentation. .  Parents born in TX, Sister and brother born in TX, GRANDPARENTS born in either TX or OK.  Me I just got dropped along the way in AZ and birth record lost due to me not being named before leaving the hospital.   Hospital burned yadda yadda.  Have baby pics, toddler pics, school records, docs records, Bible entry, marriage and divorce papers as well as my kids birth certificates and AZ won't issue a delayed birth certificate.   It's never enough for them and this has been going on for over 50 years.   It just got worse after 9/11.   They know I'm a citizen, hey just won't issue the paper.

When I got my SS I said rain on them I don't need it..little did I know the state now requires it to issue a RE license.

No one understands..they keep saying "oh, just ask them to send you a copy" and I want to scream THERE IS NO COPY!"

DG she was a sweetheart and your'e right, she knew us..lol.
