Printcasting: People-Powered Magazines

www.Printcasting.com

Hi Printcasters,

This week I'm switching up the focus to talk specifically about where the Printcasting experience goes awry.  A lot of you may have tried Printcasting in the past and got somewhere halfway through the product when suddenly you reached a roadblock, a dead end, or a fork in the road with no clear markings.  This week I want to find all of those points where first time users may get bogged down and put up roadsigns.

If you're publishing your own magazine now or once tried to and couldn't quite make it to the end, now is the time to jump in and let me know where you got stuck or where you had to catch your breath and take a leap into the unknown.  As some of my teachers used to say, "You're probably not the only one who has that question" and by asking the question and adding the help, you can not only help yourself, but help all those who come after you.

Thanks and hope to hear from you.

Tom Webster

It would be good to remind us of the link to the Printcasting site.

http://www.printcasting.com...

As it is, I have to look for old posts.

BTW, I'd like to give a shout out to Mary Lou Fulton who has decided to move on from the day-to-day at the Californian.  She brought a lot of great ideas into the publishing world, had (at least) a hand in all of the new Californian products over the last several years and Printcasting wouldn't exist without her.   While she will remain on the board of the Californian, her energy and way of sifting through vast amounts amounts of data and cultural macrotrends to help position the paper for the future will be missed in the daily grind.

All the best and thank you, Mary Lou.

Heh.  My bad, Apollo.  I'll get that fixed up right now.  :)

OK, Apollo.  Let me send that over again and find and answer for you.

Apollo, you can always get to the link via the Printcasting widget in my sidebar just below the archives section.  Let me know if you'd like one of these to link to your magazine from here as well.

Thank you; the widget works.

To your second question, feel free to link.  :)

I guess my fix is just wishful thinking?  :(

still can't approve what's waiting there without an error.

Let me help out a bit. The problem in all of those queries is this part: "contributor_feed_article_id in ()". Note that there are no article IDs inside the parentheses. That's what's killing the queries.
