Get a gardener!!!
It amazes me that people come to this country to better themselves and when they get here they try to live in their home like a 3rd world country! As I am driving through my neighborhood I notice that 2 or three yards are unkept with junk piled around their house, I know Silvercreek is not 7 Oaks but it's not mexico either! The people in this neighborhood take pride in their homes yet to have a few nasty people to move into the neighborhood and run it down because they can't simply clean up after themselves, for Christ's sake they have 10 families living in these homes..... Get a Gardener, hire a maid or get off of your lazy butts and clean up you homes! 21 comments from 11 users

I have to have a little talk with my gardeners this week. They sprayed roundup on my Garbera Daises and plucked all the unopened flowers off my Day lilies. Finding a decent gardener is a real chore. My account has been sold so many times I'm beginning to wonder who my pimp is! posted by

I would never hire a gardener. Doing the work ourselves is relaxing and I love the feeling of having a beautiful yard. I must say we have one of the nicest on our block. Our neighbor has a beautiful yard too. posted by

Foodjunkie, sometime the truth just hurts.... BTW if I lived in Oildale in the rougher areas of the dale I probably wouldn't be complaining but I don't! posted by

I do the planting and "gardening" myself. The gardeners do the mowing and edging. About two times a year they trim the hedges. I trim the trees. Why they started messing with the flowers, I don't know. posted by

I must agree yard work relaxes the mind, I would love it if the folks who's yards are pig pens would just look around and take a lesson and realize that they live in a beautiful part of Bakersfield. tch I bet you spend hours critiquing your yard! posted by

It makes me feel good knowing my yard looks kept up. It really upsets me when a yard looks like crap. Makes the entire neighborhood look bad. It is only spring and summer here for a super short time, more time than not our yard is covered in snow, so we try to use the time wisely :0) My husband is even more yard obsessed than I am.

If you have a problem with your neighbors, why don't you knock on their door and explain gardening etiquette to them. I'm sure they'll get right on it. You can let them know you and yours resent weeds and toys scatterred on their property. Maybe you can offer to do their gardening and make some extra cash, or create a home owners association with the rest of your neighbors and become property police to also monitor paint shades and garbage can placement. posted by

adam, you suggest PureAmerican go talk to his neighbor? What if he only speaks English, and they don't? Then what? posted by

You haven't seen badly kept yards until you've been to small-town Oregon. They make Fred Sanford's junkyard look like the Playboy Mansion. Anyone who has a well-kept yard and flushes the toilet after taking a dump must be one a them elitist Californicators come up there to get their land (we sure as hell wouldn't want their women). posted by

My Hispanic neighbors keep their yards immaculate. However, my White neighbor across the street don't appear to give a damn about his.
