So, Ms. Barnett has suspended all marriages.  This is a bold move.  I have wondered whether or not to support her decision.  So?

The fact of the matter is that Ms. Barnett reports to the people.  She is an elected official.  Just like Ken Weir must report to the people.  I have been urging for the recall of Ken Weir, but I am not sure about recalling Ann Barnett just yet.

Ms. Barnett can decide to do her job or not.  The bottom line is that if it doesn't meet the expectations of the people (her boss), then she should be fired.  Although she has been somewhat quiet on the issue, I feel that she should not be recalled.  I support her decision.  There are numerous other ways for couples to get married.  The alternatives do not have to be more expensive, and in all reality they are not.

However, if the people conclude that Ms. Barnett has not acted according to her 'contract' with the people, then she should be fired.  If the people have a problem with her job performance then they need to get the recall going and let the people vote.  That is one recall petition that I will not sign.

Either she's lying about her motives or she's not very good at her job.  Either way, I don't support her, but wouldn't support a recall either.

Sigh. I'm just tired of the Barnett thing. Hope everything is peaceful tomorrow.

If not, it'll be one more item to add to the list of reasons for removal.  This whole thing was handled badly from the start.

We are led to believe that Ms. Barnett uses her religious beliefs to not have marriages performed in city hall. And because she is silent on the issue, we truly don't know the truth. Which leads me to wonder, if this is about her Biblical belief system, then my Bible also states many things along these lines, such as "Thou shalt not lie"  and to render unto Caesar (in other words, follow the law of the land.)   So many people take Biblical concepts out of context and apply it to what they want to believe, or have us believe. With elected officials, this isn't to be.  They are elected to represent all of us, including gays, the elderly, and anyone else alive and breathing in Kern County.   Elected officials have taken it to mean that once elected, they then apply their own belief system to their voting on issues, and this begins at the very top in Washington.  Sadly, it has now filtered down to Ms. Barnett.  Regardless of her reasons, she was very communicative when wanting to be elected; she now hides behind her silence.  Not acceptable for elected officials.

She is getting paid to do her job.   If I refused to do my job I would be fired.
