Turning out the lights

I imagine most of you heard about the lights being turned off in the House of Representatives by Nancy Pelosi.  She had them turned off, and ordered the press out.  Thid kind of behavior is totally unacceptable.  Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who sees a problem with these sorts of things.

It seems like the 1st Amendment protects the press.  Now, despite my distrust of the press you have to admit that there is freedom of the press in this country.  That's what the constitution supposedly set up for us.  And it's easy to see why that's important.

So why can Ms. Pelosi order the press out of the buidling?  Why does she get to leave everyone talking in a dark room.  And the topic of discussion?...oil drilling.  Now, gas prices have come down a bit, but they are still above $4 a gallon.  We are paying up the yin yang for gas.  And Pelosi has the nerve to shut everything down and end the discussion on something that could help lower our gas prices?

I wish people would stand up and speak out on this.  I've seen this trend happen at the government level for years now.  And I have even seen it trickle down into our local politics.  WE NEED TO REMIND OUR GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES THAT THE PEOPLE ARE THEIR BOSS.  WE ARE IN CHARGE.  WE HAVE TRUSTED THEM TO MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS FOR US...THE PEOPLE.  So why end the discussion on something that will make us better off?  Because you have a vacation to start?  Let's get real here.

If we don't see a change from Ms. Pelosi, I hope that we will all help her get voted out at the next election.  We need to do this with all the government scumbags who believe they are all powerful.  If in California, we need to work on recalls.  If they are in the federal system we need to observe them closely for impeachment, or work to get them voted out.

THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERNMENT!!!!!  When our representatives forget that they are just that: representatives, then we must remind them.  If they don't change their ways, then we need to throw them out.

WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!  WAKE UP IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOUR COUNTRY & YOUR FREEDOMS!!!!!!!!

By happenstance, Nancy Pelosi appeared on This Week with George Stephenopoulus (I think I spelled it right. Geez, why can't they get a Smith or Jones?) and answered the issue you posted.

She maintains that the republican noise-makers are the minority who belong to big oil interests. Her position was that off-shore drilling will not lower the price of gas at the pump. She "turned out the lights" because there was a foregone conclusion nothing would be resolved and the vote was meant to serve news opportunity rather than solve a controversial problem. She said all alternatives and options have not been considered by bipartisan  parties.

Nancy Pelosi did not call for the D.C. cops to physically remove the squatters like Bill Thomas did on the Democrats in a cloak room discussing a bill. The fifty Republican Congressmen who did the grandstanding on this issue are all obstructionists to any sane compromises on energy policy. We do need to remind our Congressmen that we want solutions to problems not ideological demagoguery to promote one special interest over the desires of the public at large.

Think about that.  Maybe it *IS* just you.

Good luck with that.

Kern County isn't in Pelosi's district.

You are aware of how House members are elected, aren't you?

If in California, we need to work on recalls

You can't recall someone who isn't your representative.

It appears you need a civics lesson.

You can't even recall someone who *IS* your representative.

Oddly enough, Pelosi is almost always one of the most conservative persons running for her position. But I agree with the Loon on one thing--the Democrats need a better Speaker next time 'round.  Someone who's not so conservative.

No, they're just minor demons.

Dick Cheney is the devil.

TSM, I understand how politics works...quite well actually.  And you must know that you can support the removal of STATE officials through recall.  Even if you aren't the one voting for it, you can call all your friends, you can go visit their district and campaign against them.  There's more to this than just hiding away in your house and casting your vote.

And I also know that you cannot recall a national elected official, like Pelosi.  That is why we must help those who will work against her in the next election.

If you guys don't get this, than you are useless.
