Trustee resigns months before term expires
A Rio Bravo-Greeley School District board member resigned a handful of months before he was up for election. Albert Pacini, who said he had not been elected but appointed after another board member left a few years ago, said the issue was part of a closed session meeting because it was a personnel matter and declined to comment. Superintendent Ernie Unruh could not be reached for comment. The district solicited applicants for Pacini's seat in today's paper. Interested? Contact 589-2696. Letters of intent are due by May 2 and interviews will be May 12. 2 comments from 1 users

Tara, I'm curious to know exactly how much you know about what has been going on at RBG lately. Are you working on a story for this at all, or is this just a blog for info? I believe that the reason Pacini resigned last month has something to do with the fact that the ex-principal, Art Folsom, was "reassigned" to a teaching position in March. I have not yet been able to find out about why Unruh suggested that he be pulled from his position as principal, but I'm still wanting to find out. That happened in the middle of March, the day after a seventh-grade field trip to Long Beach, which I personally feel was not properly planned by the principal at all. I'm also trying to figure out if the poorly planned field trip (I went on the trip with family) is in any way related to the reason they reassigned him. The board had its monthly meeting on Monday, April 14, and that was the day they decided for sure whether to reinstate his position as principal or find a new principal. I have not been able to find out what the results of that meeting were, because my dad and I were busy that night and couldn't make it to the meeting. No one has been talking about it around school, so I haven't been able to get any information from my little brother, who attends the school. We don't know who has been "running" the school as the principal since that little ordeal happened, and I don't know who will become the principal if it was decided that he shouldn't be principal, which is what I definitely hope happened. I also know that the Folsom had an affair a few years ago with one of the teachers, so perhaps that also played a minor part in the situation. I found out about the whole the principal issue during Spring Break when a letter was anonymously sent out to all the parents at RBG. We still have the letter that was sent out. Did you know any of this? Just curious. posted by

I forgot to tell you that the anonymous letter that was sent out was to everyone wasn't from the school. I wanted to make sure you knew that. The envelope didn't have a return address on it, so I haven't been able to figure out who was behind the whole thing. All it had on the front of the envelope was "RBG Parents" and our address. At the end of the letter it asked that if you were supporting the principal to send that slip back to the address they provided. I did some online research and tracked down a name of someone who lives at that address, but there's no telling if that person is involved with the whole thing. It had to have been someone working for the school to get everyone's addresses from the office. I was also talking to my dad and his friend Friday after I sent the letter to you, and the friend told me that Pacini did not resign "immediately" after the special meeting, but I'm sure you knew that since you heard he had resigned. I'm not sure how much of that letter is legit, but it came from someone who didn't have the backbone to sign it with his or her name. The friend had gone to the board meeting on Monday and said that not many people showed up. He told me that the decision is official to get rid of Folsom as the principal, and I guess he was offered a teaching position or something. I have no idea who's going to replace him for the rest of this year and next, etc. I think that's about it. My apologies for the in-depth comment about details...again. I'm sorry about that. I'm a journalism student, so I get a little obsessed when I'm looking for information. I'm sure you understand.
