Mettler, protester won't be charged
The Kern County District Attorney declined to pursue criminal charges against Kern High Trustee Ken Mettler or Rob Badewitz. Mettler was involved in a fight with No on Proposition 8 protesters on October 24. Video catches Mettler throwing a punch at No on 8 demonstrator Rob Badewitz; less clear are the events immediately preceding and following the punch, during which Mettler says signs were ripped out of his hands. The DA's isn't pursuing charges because: "statements.... vary wildly," and "precise facts... cannot be firmly established," according to its press release. After Badewitz filed a criminal complaint, Mettler filed a complaint. Watch the video. 9 comments from 8 users

Sounds like they went at it the wrong way. I agree both of them not getting prosecuted and i even called this when it happened that both would not because it would be a he said, he said issues. However the fact remains that Ken Mettler was and is still an elected official and the video taper of this incident was clearly en-citing people to harm Mettler fuller aware of who he is and was. The fact that threatening an Elected Official goes unexamnined and is more of a serious crime than a simple battery they did look at is an easy way out for the investigation. posted by

Said Elected Official ought to lose his position for having demonstrated, on videotape, such abysmal judgement. Guess I'll just have to settle for having Prop 8 overturned in court.

What else is new, of course Mettler will not be prosecuted; do you really believe that Ed and Donnie will endanger their new raises? posted by

TO BAD, SO SAD, I'M GLAD.People on the No on 8 you don't need a punk, woman beater, druggie like little Robbi Badewitz as your poster child. And Bluebeautyqueen this happened in the Bakersfield Police Department jurisdiction. So Donny has no say so in this case. Just wanted to clear that up.

I just want everyone to know I predicted this outcome the day after the incident in a blog. I should get the salary of an attorney for my legal analysis skills. posted by

Mettler's an arrogant hothead. It's only a matter of time before it gets him into trouble he can't get out of. posted by

AurdreyB please give me a description of an "arrogant hothead"? Aaaaaa! No let me give you one. Some guy standing on a corner with his face covered with a black bandanna runs over and rips something out of a senior citizen's hand, gets kicked and a fist up side his jaw by that senior. Then cries like a little baby when the media shows up. Then a few days later it is reported this someone is a druggie and has rough up a female (17 year-old) That someone, little Robbl Badewitz. Now thats an "arrogant hothead."
