My friends have bad taste?
I can’t tell you how many places I’ve wasted money and killed my taste buds on recommendations of friends. I’ve found the places they love totally disgusting. I started to think that my friends just had bad taste, but then I realized that they chose me as a friend. Yikes!

Word-of-mouth recommendations are great, but the best thing about the Inside Guide is that I can choose which knowledgeable reviewer sounds more like me. I trust their reviews the most.

I asked fellow reviewer about why do they write review on the Inside Guide and she exclaimed:

“I would feel great if I knew someone used my review to eat somewhere…or not go to that place.”

The Inside Guide is all about you and your opinions. Finding a new favorite hangout is an immediate benefit for our readers and reviewers. It’s for people who are passionate about our local scene.

Have you ever tried a restaurant or business because of a review on the inside guide? So who are the reviewers that you trust the most? What reviews have influenced you? What places have you tried because of the Inside Guide?

I've tried a lot of places because of the Inside Guide. My favorite reviewers are CrunchyGuero, Jason, and The Dining Divas- Penny, Lydia, Katie, and Tracy. I also can't forget to mention Bryan Jackson.

CrunchyGuero tried Camille's because of the reviews that the Dining Divas & I wrote. That's a great feeling.

I to have gone to places that others have said were Great, only to be GREATLY dissipointed...hehe well that is what makes the World go around...Taste is truly a very personal thing. Like you say, one mans gold, is anothers junk, so to speak...same with food...I will read many reviews and probably try out a few that many others like, and I will let you know,,,,BUT,,I think I need a different name to go by, if I am to be totally honest about a place, (or never plan on going back!) or just not say anything at all {bad}..what do you think about that??

Well, if you don't like the  place and you go back... what's wrong with you? ;0)

I know what's that like.. there's a certain italian place I can't stand, but my friends always want to go there. I just give in and go, since I'd rather go along than miss the chance to hang out.

In situations like this, I just compromise and give them a 2 or 3 star rating- and note in my review that I can tolerate this place if I go, but if I had a choice I wouldn't.

Or is that selling out and playing it too safe?

Maybe it's better to just say what you think and just hope they don't spit on your order!

Spit on your order, I know that has happened to many a person..it does not pay to insult the cook, well I would rather go to a place with a chef... My X brother in law was  a Chef, and he hated to be called a cook....He said that there is a very big differance...I know for a fact that is sooooo true, especially in the flavor of everything He ever cooked...woooops "Prepared" hehe  I believe it is much safer and better to tell the main person, in charge, if there is a problem, that way it can be fixed in private...after all, I may LOVE the Waitress, but something else may be amiss...after all, eating out is a social event, not a necessity..correct?

Back in December, I tried Dagny's Coffee on the night of the Christmas Parade after reading reviews on it.  Same with Sub Station and Frosting Ink inside Sub Station.  I actually wanted to try Happy Jacks or one of the restaurants I had read about.  I ended up at Sub Station because I had little cash and Happy Jacks doesn't accept credit or debit cards and I didn't have time to walk to the other restaurants.  I enjoyed my whole night (the parade and all my food and drinks) and thankfully the rain held off.  I also was sort of influenced by the IG to go to Red Brick Pizza, even though I knew it was coming before seeing it on the IG.  Before going there I read the review that talked about the tvs at each table there.  I believe it was stickbugs who wrote that review.  I enjoy reading the thoughts of many reviewers, so its hard to tell which reviewer is my favorite.
