Snow is fun, although I have never been a cold lover. I'll visit, but not stay, heh. And if the roads are bad in the morning, don't risk it just to get to work. No job is worth risking your life on icy, snowy roads. Take a personal day and just keep enjoying the snow if that's the case.

Bakersfield's snowstorm of 1999 marked its 10th anniversary yesterday. What a day that was. That was the day I was supposed to fly out of L.A. halfway around the world for my marriage. I woke up around 4 a.m. to see a red glow coming through the windows and thought maybe there was a fire going on. To my shock I instead saw a winter wonderland. I'd have gone bonkers with glee any other day, but  I was worried about getting over the Grapevine.

So I started slip-sliding to all the Wal-Marts in town. Finally the third one proved to be the charm as it carried the tire chains I needed. But I'd learn all the roads to the Southland were closed, prompting me to call Meadows Airport to see if any flights were headed to L.A. Fortunately there was one and I made reservations for a ticket. But just before I was to head to the airport, I learned that I-5 was open, so I made my trek and found nothing but clear roads and sunny skies at the Grapevine.

Here's a link I found with some pics from that day for old time's sake: http://www.bakersfield.net/...

Glad to hear you made it to work safely.

And apparently the spam code is trying to agree snow is fun, but is having a dsylexic moment: EFZUN (EZ FUN perhaps?)
