Unofficial "Bloggers' Brunch" at Dagny's Saturday
Location:
1600 20th St,
Bakersfield, CA 93301
We haven't had a Bloggers' Brunch for a while and I thought I'd just invite my fellow bloggers out for a meet-n-greet this Saturday. I'll be there from noon to 4 and I'll even bring nametags if folks want them. We've got a ton of new bloggers who it would be nice to meet and of course the regulars are all a treat. Even the folks who just read but never post should stop by and see that we're all just regular folks. Well, mostly regular folks. I think that events like this help us to remember that as we fire our missives off into cyberspace, there are real people on the receiving end of those comments. This will of course be a non-sanctioned event so you'll have to buy your own drinks. :) Actually on that same note, I do want to emphasize that this is a community meetup. Folks from the paper are welcome to be there as guests of the community. Heck, I might even buy drinks for a few of them. Who's in? 97 comments from 34 users

Gube...there have been 3 that I'm sure of and maybe one more. Pictures are available. I have the links someplace. At the first one, only Steve, Scary Mary, Audrey, her daughter Cat, and moi showed up. We met at Mauricios for brunch. After that they were at Dagneys. posted by

Thanks Tom..I had to go find them in my disorganized files. Funny that we didn't get any pictures at the very first one. We must have been too busy eating and talking about the ones who didn't show up. That's the rule ya know...whoever isn't there gets talked about. :-) spam code vew up. posted by

That is the rule, Nancy. I think there may be pictures of the first one, those are the just the ones I found. Logan or Jason may have pictures somewhere as well. I can't believe the one I went to was a year ago. posted by

Wow, thanks for taking the initiative, Tom! (And Bartley, I'd use a popular internet acronym here that starts with ROFL but then I'd have to censor myself.) ;) We very much enjoyed hosting our blogger meetups at Dagny's, and only stopped because of budgetary constraints. :( BTW, those were just coffee and cookies, Tom, you're calling this a brunch--you makin' us omlettes? :) Here are some more pix and stuff from last year: http://people.bakersfield.c... http://people.bakersfield.c... http://people.bakersfield.c... I'll definitely come by some time, it'll be nice to see familiar faces and "meet" some new ones! posted by

So, a meet up during the day? While the sun is out? No computers involved? hmm... We will probably pop in if we don't get lost. Never been to Dagny's. posted by

There were three at Dagny's, March, April and May, before we had to stop having them. :( (We just didn't take pix at all of them. The last one we only had a few folks, I remember Mattloch, Buffoo, Possummomma, and WoofWoof, I think.) posted by

Well, I'm finally back after my Internet died on me yeseterday. So, let's see. Oh yeah. I'm agoraphobic and scared of the city. Oh, and you think I'm kidding, don't you? :) The more legitimate reason I honestly cannot go, though, is because, ahem, I still don't have my license. Man, I really need to learn how to drive, huh? I don't think my parents would be up for taking me downtown (sooo far from home!) to see y'all. They think I'm weird. Now I feel bad for saying I can't go. Umm...I just remembered I might be starting my garden on Saturday, too. I need to get my tomato seeds in the ground so they're ready for the summer. I have to go to my brother-in-law's concert that night, too... posted by

Hey Robin if anyone has a legitimate excuse not to attend it's me. I've been growing my hair out and it looks like a platinum tumbleweed. My appearance was OK for my family, they have to love me, but it's not OK for anyone else to see my wild woman of Borneo "do". I may be wearing a bag over my head but I plan to attend. posted by

Audrey! I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow to try to make myself presentable for the meeting Saturday! I figure my daily "hair in a ratty bun" work at home look isn't too presentable for the real world. Come with me, we can gab at the mall! WoofWoof: I'll be the really pale chick in the corner trying to get my eyes to adjust to the brightness of day. posted by

Free I can't get my hair cut now because of an ear surgery I just had. It was all the ear problems for the last three months that made me unable to make a hair appointment. So I'm coming with my current non "do". Our readers recommend: |
