Rumsfeld Resigns
Word on the news now is that Donald Rumsfeld is going to resign. Speculation is that Joe Lieberman will be chosen to replace him. If this occurs, the Senate will at most be 50-50 which would turn control back to the Republicans because Dick Cheney will choose who leads the Senate.
Any bets, projections? Updated: Robert Gates is now the nominee to replace Don Rumsfeld. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... 33 comments from 11 users

. But a Republican senator from Connecticut would be preferable to Lieberman in many ways. . And if the timing is right, the Democratic Lt-Governor of Connecticut might get to make the decision, since the current Governor is under a cloud of suspicion and more than half the CT residents want him to resign... . UPDATE: Sorry, apparently that was the *LAST* corrupt Republican Governor of Connecticut. My bad. posted by

I think if they wanted to replace Rummy with Satan, the dems might rubber stamp it. LOL
I guess stay the course didn't apply to the Rummeister. But seriously, all his arrogance and excuses aside, who is going to come out smelling like a rose in what was a bad idea to begin with. When we do pull out, and civil war ensues, I'm sure the Dems will get all the blame for not staying that course. posted by

I was laughing for hours over that one. Then Colbert ended his show by quitting and going out to his car, and ended up talking to his driver (Uncle Sam). His driver convinced him to stay, because "the Democrats have been in power for only a few minutes, and already this war is unwinnable!" I'm still laughing over that one. posted by

AntiEx, Satan's more popular than Rumsfeld. . Democrats don't use terror in their politics, Tom. That's why Republicans are stronger on it. posted by

For what it is worth, Bush finally mustered up some Balls to act on his own realize that the war is not going well. Too bad that he did not realize this years ago, declared victory and took a powder. Firing Rumsfeld should only be a beginning, President Bush has much work to do to extract us from what is and has been for sometime, an unwinnable position. The people have spoken, except in With the trampling Bush and his party received at the ballot box let us hope that the new Democratic majority will be more civil and forgiving than their Neocon predecessors who like Bakersfield football coaches not only loved to run up the score but trample on the carcasses. It is interesting to note that Bush reached into the past and his father’s administration for a Rumsfeld replacement in Mr. Gates, and old Bush senior CIA man to do the job. Gates was one of Bush senior’s advisors who counseled against invading Only Time will tell whether Bush can restrain the surviving Neocons and work with the new congress that will be less anxious to work with Gates than they would be with Rumsfeld. However it turns out the coming changes can only be positive given the incivility of the last six years posted by

What's ironic is that George 1's people can't stand George 2, yet they are the ones being called to the rescue.
Even Hannity and Limbaugh, the speaking heads for the necons are backtracking and laying blame on the party and the repubs on the hill for not addressing the real issues, thus losing the elections. Rush, the hipocrit, really wants the Dems in power. He's finding out it's a lot easier to throw rocks than defend the glass house.
