The KMC Fitness Campaign was kicked off by the start of the Nutrition Education Series for staff.  It is a 4 week series including the following presentations:  CHO counting, Exercise tips (led by a physical therapist), Fiber, Food Fats, and Practical Tips for Weight Loss.  February 19th marked the first weigh-in day.  Participants have formed walking groups and support groups to promote healthy eating, active living.  Each participant paid $20 toward the cash pot.  They will weigh in each week for 8 weeks.  There will be prizes each week for the person who lost the most weight (based on percentage of total weight) and the top 3 with the greatest percentage of weight loss at the end of the 8 weeks will win the money from the cash pot.  Dietitians and dietetic interns will celebrate National Nutrition Month March 11-14 with booths in the cafe at Kern Medical Center with samples, education materials, and prizes for all staff.

Check back weekly to see the progress that participants are making and for weight loss totals (no names of course!).
