Not sure how rare this is, but I saw a bobcat Tuesday afternoon on a run with my dog. The bobcat wasn't running with my dog, but I was on a run with the dog when I saw the bobcat.
We were about 50 yards west of Truxtun Lake in the small wooded area. The cat was unmistakably a bobcat — it had a stumpy tail, was bigger than an average house cat and easily hopped up on a fallen tree branch to watch us as we approached.
Of course, I didn't fancy a good mauling at the claws of this wild beast, so I watched for a bit then turned and ran back to where I came from. The dog didn't seem up for it either.
It was about 3:45 p.m. and as I ran in the opposite direction I passed another runner so I thought I would alert him to the potential danger of continuing on his path.
He rather nonchalantly  mentioned that he had seen a few of these before and he wasn't at all alarmed. He then carried on into the wilderness.
I hope he made it out in one piece.
