Showtime: Doing a killer job
Want to know the secret to success. Be bad. Be very bad. Showtime lived in the shadow of HBO for years until it started 'pathological programming,' introducing us to a serial killer ("Dexter"), a suburban housewife pot dealer ("Weeds"), a sex addict ("Californication") and a English king who beheads his wives ("The Tudors"). The evidence is in the numbers. Showtime has grown subscribers every year for the past 5 years. The Los Angeles Times takes a closer look. 1 comments from 1 users

I rented season one of Dexter from Netflix and liked it so much I went and bought season 1 and 2 on DVD. You can get each season for under $20 if you wait for a sale, I paid $18 for each. I'm now watching season one again (finished disc one last night) and will start season 2 (for the second time) as soon as I'm finished with season one. To say this is a killer series is an understatement. It's gruesome, disturbing and wholly engrossing. C. Hall Michael is excellent as an unemotional and socially stunted serial killer who preys on those who prey on others as he attempts to carry on a normal (although not entirely healthy) relationship with a woman who was abused by her husband. Showtime has always been cutting edge (pun intended) with its self-developed and produced original shows.
