I, too, don't feel this is an appropriate place for this kind of posting. It bothers me that you're posting "possible" prices for properties -- I feel it gives prospective buyers the feeling that some properties are very over-priced and prospective buyers should make substantially lower bids. I realize this may just be a "game" among realtors on the caravan, but posting it on a public board is inappropriate, to say the least!

Good point, Rett. If I were selling my house and saw my realtor posting this information on a very public blog, I'd be kind of torked. In fact, we may be moving in the very near future and your post just told me which realtors I'll be avoiding. I realize that, for you, it's just a game. However, these are people's lives and nest-eggs that you're making a game out of. I can almost assure you that it's not a game to them. I know it's not illegal and you mean no harm, and you're probably a stand-up guy. However, I don't think this is very professional. posted by

Thanks for your comments. I removed the addresses, and now it just says the street names. It is a problem that we are aware of, I remember when Virtual Tours started becoming popular there were reports that theives used them to case houses for burglaries. Still, we are trying to sell houses, and must balance the needs of privacy and safety with showing potential buyers a house that they may fall in love with. I probably won't post our Caravan price opinions to the general public, but the listing agents are thankful for the feedback. Agents are also finding properties for their buyers on Caravan. Just tonight one of the agents in my office showed one of the Caravan properties to a buyer, and I think they were writing an offer. I remembered this particular property well, because it had a wonderful doll house in the back yard. Perhaps it is giving the public information that they shouldn't see. I am getting a totally negative reaction, so I won't do it anymore. It is frankly a lot of work for no money. Prices are too high. Most sellers are asking too much, and the amount of houses for sale grows and grows. We have a very saturated market, with over 5,000 homes for sale in Bakersfield. More and more foreclosure sales and distressed properties are further saturating the market. If we make a game of it, it is not that it isn't serious to us. It is just as serious to agents as it is to homeowners, more so, in fact. The homeowners are still making incomes, if their houses don't sell, but the agents are only making money if they do sell. Prices were going up at an incredible rate, but they went too high. A lot of speculation, investors, flippers, not to mention mortgage fraud, drove the prices way past what the local economy can support. The market is adjusting. Thanks for your comments. I value them, and I hope you will see that I do consider your point-of-view, and I appreciate you sharing it with me.

Dont get it ????? you would post the full address in the paper !!!!!!!!!!!! it is posted the info on the MLS system !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you put the address in the Home Preview, Real Estate Book and Kern Homes Magazine......THE ADDRESS ARE PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE ....... WHY WOULDN'T YOU POST IT OR as possummomma states in a "VERY PUBLIC PLACE " I would be an upset seller if you weren't telling everyone and everybody my house was for sale...... What if they drive by the "6000" block of main street and looked at the wrong house and it sold...... if your putting the word out....put the word out........let them who think this is a bad idea .....sell their house without telling anyone where it is........ just my thoughts..... posted by

This post is nothing but a salesman abusing this blog to advertise himself. And I don't know why though this has been reported to Jason nothing is done about it. What is to prevent every real estate salesman in town from posting here since one is allowed to do so? Family member of Jason?

I agree with Sam. But also with Refi. This is blatant advertising but, as a seller, I'd want my address out there too. I can't really see the benefit on a blog though since the paper has pictures of houses and if you're selling, you have a sign in your yard. Selling shouldn't be about privacy but this is pretty cheap advertising and I'm surprised at TBC. (ps..I don't buy that this post was about a game. Not to say there isn't a game, but I doubt that's the real purpose of this post.) posted by

I agree with you Sam and Nancy .....it is a cheap way to Get the word out.......I am torn between I would applaud anyone trying to do "what it takes " to sell a home.......in this market vs. good editorials or open discussions... Thank God we live in a country that allows us to speak our minds or ignore them without being persecuted GOD BLESS AMERICA 9/11 ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR FREEDOMS
