Politics: Hazy memories, tough talk and smoking pot

A little politics for you on this glorious Tuesday morning from Kern, and way beyond.

First off, it appears Hillary Clinton didn't dodge sniper fire when she landed in Bosnia 12 years ago. She 'misspoke.' Video footage shows her calmly walking from the airplane. Read the story here.

Dean Florez didn't misspoke when he called Gov. Schwarzenegger's budget proposal a "chicken way out."

Arnold's response: "He can't help himself. He has always been like that and he will always be like that."

Watch footage of Schwarzenegger in Bakersfield Monday.

And finally, N.Y. Gov. David Paterson admits smoking dope and snorting blow!

Seems to be a lot of "mis-speaking" going on in politics these days...............what else is new? I think it part of the orientation when newbies get to capitol hill.  Say what you want but if you get caught, apologize and keep talking.

Florez is right.  You have to set priorities.  If you're building a house and it goes over budget, you don't spend 10 percent less on everything.  We should also look at those tax loopholes with a serious eye.  Closing them would not only make the tax code more fair, but it would close much of the budget gap and in the future allow us to decrease taxes across the board.

Or we could take 6 weeks worth of Iraq occupation, and erase California's whole debt.

I wonder how far 6 weeks of Iraq money would have helped out New Orleans?

Tom, presumably, those priorties have already been set.  I don't have a problem per se with a 10 percent cut across the board, because it makes it harder for the haves to stick it (once again) to the have-nots.  Which is what's going to happen.

But remember that the Gropenfuehrer's first act in office was to re-open one of those tax loopholes.  I don't think he'll tick off his buddies by closing them again.

Anti:  6 wks of Iraq $$$ would not help New Orleans - they have already pi**ed away more then that on all the handouts they have been given.

Tom:  I can't believe I actually agreeing with you and RF !!!!!  is the world coming to an end? or has he** frozen over !!!!  HAHAHA

Hell has frozen over, by god, what is going on here...

I think we should send Arnold to Iraq for 6 months, not stop the funding there, which obviously would worsen Iraqs currents state....

Could we just swap Ahnold for the Iraqi President?  They're running a huge surplus.

War in Iraq has fallen down to a little over 12 million a hour, down from the previous high of 14.7 million.
