Bigfoot sighting in Tehachapi (in 1976)
A mere 28 years after the sighting, a woman recalls her face-to-face encounter with a hairy half-man, half-beast in the forest of Tehachapi. "When I looked a round, still on my horse. That's when I saw Bigfoot. He was really tall, black and so human like. He looked at me, but was not scared. I said to myself that's bigfoot. Bigfoot had one hand and arm leaning against a giant tree, and he looked to be both man and ape. Bigfoot looked right at me, and we both just looked at each other. I was so scared I turned around and went back to the ranch." (If it was still traipsing around Tehachapi now, the residents would probably tell it that it wasn't welcome to play in the winter snow) 12 comments from 7 users

I lived in the area at the time and where this was supposed to have taken place. There were no ranches that size on the Alpine Forest/Indian Hill Ranch Campground side of the mountain. On the west side of Alpine Forest was the large Cummings ranch..maybe she was related to them? The geography in the story just doesn't fit. (edited. I was going by the 28 years thing. 1976 to now is 32 years and I wasn't out on our ranch in '76. I moved from in town in Tehachapi to the ranch in about 1980 and left in 1985. Possible her family sold the property to the Alpine Forest Development people? posted by

Oh Bigfoot was there Nancy, he was just abducted by aliens. They wanted to study the most intelligent creature earth had to offer and hey, Sasquatches are obviously smarter than us cuz we can't even find their bones.

I remember that. That wasn't Sasquatch as it turned out. And it wasn't Tehachapi. It was Bear Valley and it was Jack Palance. He had been a Chuck Conner's place and had a few.............. posted by

If I saw a bigfoot or little green men come out of a flying saucer, I don't think I'd say anything about it, not even after 28 years. (Except to RF, Chico, Nancy, Sage, gube---all you guys, because you'd believe me.) It's almost summer. If you want to see weird forest creatures, they'll be camped along the bike path on the river. posted by

I'd believe you. I don't think RF would though Unless you told him the little green men were Republicans and meant you (us) harm posted by

I think he just helped truck them to Syria RF. He's got a Class A Chauffeur's License and can drive a double tanker of VX I am told. posted by
