bakosphere - > Bakosphere -> Hot enough for ya!
Hot enough for ya!

Talk about miserable. We bypassed the rest of spring these past few days and landed smack dab into the middle of the worst summer temperatures.

104 degrees. That's not a gentle reminder that summer is on its way, it's a boiling beatdown, the kind of surprise that keeps us inside, AC unit humming, homegrown vegetables wilting, dogs panting, steering wheels too hot to touch, you know the drill.

This local family's swimming pool is already 86 degrees! We always wonder why people in this town choose a dark surface for the bottom of their pool.

The heat didn't stop this bike race, but it sure made it tough.

And one local guy's long, yellow cure for the scalding heat.

Bako

Posting this from my own blog on the subject.

It was so hot I almost fainted at the Peddler's Fair on Saturday.   Really

The Peddler's Fair is one of the local events I look forward to each year.  Even though I'd only slept 2 1/2 hours the night before (due to an irritating cough from allergies) I was determined to go.

My daughter and I got there at  9:45 and within 15 minutes I knew I was in trounble.  I didn't want to spoil her good time so I didn't say anything.

I sat in the shade with a bottle of water at every opportunity but an hour later I knew it was a losing battle.  I finally told her I needed to get out of there or she was going to be hauling me out in an ambulance.  We headed for the exit (where we bought one of those cute rock scorpians before leaving) and I sat in the parking area while she got the car.  We cooled off at Denny's over breakfast and I began feeling better.

I rested and napped in a cool,  dark house the rest of the day and now I'm ready to go again!

When I told my husband about my close call he said he has the same trouble with temperature extremes.  Is it our ages?

I'm sure it was the  HEAT not the lack of sleep that did me in.

I'm around 11 years younger than you Audrey.... and I had my first honest to goodness heat stroke (104 degrees body temp) at 13. After I recovered from that,I just could not tolerate the heat the same way,but it does seen worse the older I get.

Seems that my tolorance to heat extremes does not have the stanima when I was younger.
