Layoffs at local TV station

We had layoffs at the Californian about a year ago, so we sympathize with what's going in over at KGET 17.

Read the story of their layoffs here.

Quoted in our story of the layoffs is Tasha Cox, former director of KGET’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

She has written a blog post praying for a rewrite of our story. Read her post here.

We couldn't find any mention of the layoffs on their KGET's Web site.

The same holds true of 29/58, and KERO 23.

Perhaps stories will appear during the day.

I just now learned of the layoffs by reading this article. Let's all face it. The current economy sucks, and broadcast TV, like other news (just look at the LA Times recent cuts) are having hard times.

I'm sure no station or news entity wants to have to downsize.

Oh yeah, because of broadcast TV rivalries, I don't foresee any broadcast news articles coming out. Didn't you see Anchorman???

Tell me about it. If Gary Gnu were still around, he'd bop you, man!

Hopefully Nick you won't get laid off and have to go back to work for Pro Soft.
