Red County blog makes inauspicious beginning
From a post on the center-right politics blog, Red County, introducing its new Central Valley section: "We are excited to represent California's great Central Valley on the Red County site! It is appropriate that this very "red" part of the state be given a voice and we hope to keep you all in-the-know during this important election cycle." Who'll be blogging? " ... our inaugural Central Valley blog team will include Dr. Adrian Moore, a vice president with Reason Foundation; Marylee Shrider, a terrific conservative newspaper columnist; Inga Barks, the talk radio host covering more of the valley than any other through KMJ Fresno and KERN Bakersfield and Ken Mettler, Kern High School District Trustee and vice president of the CA Republican Assembly." So far, the blog has linked to a few political-type stories from The Californian and Fresno Bee. There's one comment posted as of 8 this morning. It's from our own James Geluso (city government reporter) correcting one of the blog headlines! Check out the blog here. 13 comments from 11 users

Marylee Shrider, a terrific conservative newspaper columnist If by terrific they mean a columnist who lies, distorts and ignores the facts.

I'm relieved that there's one less blog in the blogosphere that I'll ever be visiting. posted by

Darn it. They took my myspace site name, central valley. I guess I'll have to make it super edgy, so people won't confuse me with the red county. posted by

I find it curious that such die-hard conservatives here in town would need their own little space to blog about political issues concerning the local population. The radio stations that promote only right-wing commentary have websites where comments can be made and opinions discussed. I think if you asked any of the local television station personnel they would tell you their stations are fairly conservative in outlook and commentary, and these media outlets all have websites and opinion options for ongoing dialog. There is this very active site, Bakersfield.com, with a growing readership and interactive contributions where they can also opine on to their hearts content. What this Red County blog represents, and I dearly thank the creators for putting it up, is the extreme viewpoint of religious conservatism. I want to thank the advertisers on the site for giving me the heads up about your businesses, which I will never patronize. These are strictly one-dimensional people who don't seem capable of dialog, only tired shopworn and handed down monologues from the Fox-Files. Good morning, and thanks for the warning.

Now that Shrider has a new home, I guess we won't be seeing her here anymore. No? Then maybe we'll see a left-perspective columnist to balance her screeds? Oh, that's right, they fired Leonel Martinez.

The Red County, Central Valley page kicked off only four days ago, but already includes an introduction by Editor Tracy Leach, a round up of stories important to those interested in the way this state is headed and a contribution posted (yesterday) from Ken Mettler. Those of us invited (sorry witbee) to contribute will be posting as our busy schedules permit. Despite bakosphere's biased and disingenuous attempt to mislead local bloggers, Red County is a polished, professional site you may want to actually check out before you commence with the gnashing of teeth and rending of garments. Or don't.
