If this demonstration doesn't persuade McCain to abandon his campaign, we're not sure what will.

Obama country huh?  (snicker)

That danged GOP doesn't care if people in this country starve.  Let them eat cake.  (geeeeeezzz..lol)

Nancy

Candi Easter was saying what she wished was true, not what's actually true.  But, that's big boy politics for you.

At any rate, we'll have to see what happens when the running mates are chosen.

For now, polls show them running neck and neck.

Demonstration!?!?! There was like 5 people out there! Obama Country!?!?!? McCain raised over 600000K yesterday I'm told, doesn't sound like Obama Country to me!

I like the guy who said GOP doesn't care about starving people, that is good empty rhetoric, just like Obama's entire campaign!!!

How much did Candi Easter pay those People to sit out there and look angry? And by the way do liberals even have jobs?...Where do they find time to protest fall these fundraisers? no wonder they don't care about raising taxes, or industry, they are all unemployed!

If that's the best the Dems could do for a "demonstration"  it isn't any wonder some in the GOP could laugh at the very ridiculousness of such a thing. I would have thought the people putting on the spectacle would be embarrassed, and especially with the news coverage of a mouse that only squeaked pretending to roar.

posted by TSM on Jul 29, 2008 at 11:56 AM

Actually, it goes to show how little of a threat Democrats consider McCain.

posted by johnburnssucks on Jul 29, 2008 at 01:28 PM

Candi Easter wears dentures. They don't fit, either.

More than likely, no Dem with real teeth wanted to come to The Valley and protest in late July. Can't say that I blame them.

posted by BakersfieldSuperman on Jul 29, 2008 at 02:22 PM

Oh and for those of you who weren't there, there were several McCain supporters outside the event cheering, and blowing kisses to the Senator and his wife as they drove by.

These supporters were their throughout the duration of the event, a total of three hours,  in the hot sun, long after the ridiculous protesters left.

They of course, were conveniently  not not shown on the video footage.

Yeah, Reagan ruined the state's mental-health system...

posted by BakersfieldSuperman on Jul 29, 2008 at 02:33 PM

Honestly RF, grow up, it was actually mothers and their children out there supporting McCain not mental patients.

And if we are talking crazy, look at the protesters. That nut job talking about the GOP ignoring starving people give me a break. And Candi Easter, please, did you see that lame hat she was wearing being crazy is the only excuse a person can have for wearing that thing...well crazy or stupid, in her case probably both!

I think it says a lot about the bias of this website and the Bakersfield Californian as a whole that they focus on the 10 maybe 15 protesters outside, but fail to mention during this clip that nearly 400 people that donated to the event and around 100 volunteers spent that their day working on the Senator's behalf.

Hard to tell the difference sometimes, BS.  Case in point:  your missives here on these blogs.

Just one example, should someone with a big red "S" on his chest be handing out fashion advice?

posted by BakersfieldSuperman on Jul 29, 2008 at 02:39 PM

I guess that was an attempt at a come back? I don't actually wear a superman suit that is a picture ..... quite a stretch, if you are trying to insult me back you missed the mark!

Question?, do you really look like testicles with eyes, or is that your picture on the blogs?

posted by randomfactor on Jul 29, 2008 at 02:44 PM

BS, your "side" is making fun of someone's dentures and hat.

McShrub came to milk the cattle, that's all.  He knows he's not going to win California.  He knows he's not going to win the presidency.  He knows he's outclassed in every department.  Too bad he won't be ending his career with dignity--but then, he didn't begin it that way.

.

And to answer your question, yes, mine really *ARE* that big.

posted by BakersfieldSuperman on Jul 29, 2008 at 02:53 PM

You made fun of McCain's age and health, suggesting that he should suffer form a heart attack, you called all his supporters mental patients, not very classy at all, when it comes down to it your thoughts are just like your testicles, shooting blanks!

So, Random Blanks, as I will now refer to as, I have noticed that you haven't addressed the main point of my argument, why was there no attention given to the packed house of McCain supporters that produced the largest political event in the history of Bakersfield? Instead they do a video for a handful of protesters?.... doesn't seem like ethical journalism to me.

posted by randomfactor on Jul 29, 2008 at 03:00 PM

Oh, I'm mortally wounded by a guy whose initials and postings are both BS.

.

Have you ever heard the journalism term "sidebar"?  If they'd covered *ONLY* the demonstrators and not the event itself, during which the cancer-ridden elderly gentleman raised a large sum of money that won't help him overcome his own flip-flopping record, then you might have some cause to complain that there was *SOME* attention paid to people who know the real McShrub.

BakersfieldSuperman, I posted this because I found it on YouTube. If I found one from the McCain supporters point of view I'd post that one too. If you know of one, please send me the link.

This is not a bakersfield.com or Bakersfield Californian video.

BakersfieldSuperman:

The campaign did not allow journalists with cameras inside the event. Had they allowed the Californian to have a photographer/videographer there, we would have been.

Maybe we should call it a draw and let it go at that.

posted by BakersfieldSuperman on Jul 29, 2008 at 03:15 PM

Ohhhh... I see I struck a cord with you, you seem upset...don't worry alot men are sterile there is treatment for it you know....

Anyway, it is nice to hear such a kind hearted liberal mock an American hero for having skin cancer in the past, and if you read the post it actually says, "if this doesn't persuade McCain to abandon his campaign, we don't know what will."

I think you are giving yourself a little too much credit. By the way many of those supporters were for Ron Paul, not Obama .... Obama country indeed!

posted by ProgressivePete2 on Jul 29, 2008 at 03:16 PM

No journalists at the event eh? Is that so nobody in town has to hear his latest gaffe? What's he trying to hide?

Some polls show them in a statistical tie, but others give Obama a double digit lead.

posted by randomfactor on Jul 29, 2008 at 03:17 PM

BS, it's not like I need any more kids.   Haven't even had the need to use birth control in ten years.

But it's somewhat creepy how interested you seem to be in my...equipment.  Sorry--I don't swing that way, and my standards would be higher in *ANY* event.

posted by politicsanyone on Jul 29, 2008 at 03:29 PM

Pete: They did allow one journalist at the event, our own Christine Bedell. But no video.

As far as I know, that's standard practice for fundraisers on both sides. Obama fundraisers haven't been covered much either.

posted by nooneisabovethelaw on Jul 29, 2008 at 03:43 PM

"Many of those supporters..." I thought you said there were only five protesters. So....which is it? Five isn't many, in my dictionary.

Oh, and way to assume the video posted here was made by the Californian. You're busted again.

I'm still waiting for my apology for an earlier, erroneous posting.

You mean his "trophy wife" that he left his sick wife for.

If this is not a Bakersfield Californian post or one from Bakersfield.com, you should not have Bakersfield.com logo at the bottom of post, it gives the impression that ridiculous posts like these, with ludicrous statements like, "if this doesn't make McCain abandon his campaign,we don't what will" is legitimized by this website.

Dems need to get over BUSH! Mcain and Bush are 2 different people. Stop trying to link them. Can we start comparing Obama to Slick Willie? No he wouldn't like it. Dems get a life, and stop being so mad at the World, or i mean America.

For heaven sake rockandroller..get over your silly self.  That was 26 years ago and his wife wasn't "sick."  She was recovering from an auto accident..  What does that have to do with TODAY ?

posted by randomfactor on Aug 25, 2008 at 07:01 AM

Suuuuuure they are, soltini.  Name a difference between Shrub and McBush on any issue.
