bakosphere - > Bakosphere -> Local TV station sends mixed message about Prop 8
Local TV station sends mixed message about Prop 8

Local TV station KGET 17 has done it again.

Right next to a story saying gay couples are rushing to Kern to get married before the Nov. 4 election, there is a Yes on 8 video ad saying that all children will turn into raging homosexuals and start a massive schoolyard orgy if gay marriage is so much as mentioned during class time.

The same thing happened earlier this week. Doesn't anyone read Bakosphere.

Yes, some of us do, even though the three of you are involved in a definitely non-traditional cyber menage-a-trois.  The people at boxturtle.com say that "Yes on 8" places ads on any site they can find, pro or con, that mentions Prop. 8.  On a lot of blog sites the adspace belongs to the service provider and the blogger has no control over the ads, which can result in some interesting webpages.  I pointed out one earlier this week, and I think I have the channel 17 placement beat:

Really? The Yes on 8 video ad says that all children will turn into raging homosexuals and start a massive schoolyard orgy if gay marriage is so much as mentioned during class time? A pretty outrageous and hyperbolic comment for any supposedly neutral journalist to be making, don't  you think?

I don't know about that but I can say that many parents including myself WILL have a problem if Prop. 8 fails and the schools start teaching that same-sex marriage is equal to traditional marriage and assigning students to read books like "King & King." If that happens, you can bet I will not betray the king I follow by having my sons be taught that crap, let alone read the book and others like it. I'll shred them if I have to, consequences be damned.

P.S. The schools would have no problem confusing children that same-sex marriage is normal instead of the disordered, unnatural behavior that we known it to be for time immemorial, yet we have a school crucifying religious freedoms by booting out a boy who dressed up as Jesus for Halloween: http://news.aol.com/article...

Because that stance makes infinitely more sense than the dogma they're taught at home.  If your arguments can't win the debate on merit, maybe they don't deserve your belief.

Fine, let's put the "dogma" that the schools will teach to the test. I will have my two boys dressed up like the characters in "King & King" if their school will allow costumes on future Halloween days. If they get booted out of the school like the kid who dressed up as Jesus, then no hypocrisy is evident. But if they are given the royal treatment ...

You do that.  If you start today, you can be living in Paramus, New Jersey before next Hallowe'en.  For the record, I don't think there should be anything "sacred" about a schoolkid dressing up as Jesus.   Just hope it wasn't fishstick day at the cafeteria, or they're gonna have a freezerful of leftovers.  And keep the kid away from the waterfountains, just in case.

Ppgun (?) -

As I have posted numerous times on this blog; I am a teacher, and there are other teachers in here as well. There will be NO teaching of homosexual marriage in schools. Marriage may be discussed in sex-ed, or within the context of a book, but we as teachers will not be telling the students, "marriage is between anybody; straight, gay, goat, purple... it's all okay because God is dead." As a teacher I want to reassure you that your fears are unfounded and the information being displayed in advertisements is false. Do not believe them.
