Star Trek trailer here!
Way back in April, Trekkies were abuzz with the news that scenes from the new "Star Trek" film were being shot just south of Bakersfield. The location on Taft Highway near Enos Lane is used as a stand-in for Iowa, Captain Kirk's home state. We couldn't be prouder. Check out the newly released trailer here (and see if you recognize the dusty dirt roads of your youth).

I am totally jazzed but a tad skeptical. Romulans? If they have them actually seeing the Romulans in the movie I will be quite put off. And the crew looks pretty young. I know Kirk was the youngest Captain ever, but come on. He looks barely post-adolescent. Still jazzed, though. posted by

We-he-hell, I guess I know what I will be doing in May of '09. Sitting next to my giddy husband at the movie theater, that's what! Looks good. posted by

I showed my husband the preview last night and he was speechless. He finally just said, "Wow." It's always nice to have something to look forward to. posted by

Cat I became a sci fi fan waaaaay back in the 1950's when Sherry and I got addicted to Flash Gordon. Since then, I've seen them all!
And I agree, this new Star Trek looks like a winner since it begins when Captain Quirk was a mere lad. posted by

Audrey ~ How did you feel about "The X-Files"? Not true sci-fi, but still one of my favorites. I'm also looking forward to the new ST movie, but would like to see the other shows get a shot as well; ST:DS9, ST: Voyager, or even Enterprise. posted by

I looooved the X-Files. At least the first two or three seasons. When they got deep into the alien invasion coverup stuff, they lost me. Too much paranoia! And, just like LOST does now, they promised a resolution to their plot lines and THEY NEVER DELIVERED. Bah! posted by

I'm waiting for the second XF movie to come out on DVD. I have all 9 seasons on DVD, but didn't really care much for seasons 8 and 9. Nothing wrong with Robert Patrick (Agent Dogett), but he just wasn't "Spooky" Mulder... My favorite eps were the stand alone ones, with no mythology arc. What the cast and crew lovingly called the "Monster of the Week" episodes. "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" with Peter Boyle is still tops all-time for me. posted by

Yeah Rickldo My favorite: The one with the bug infestation in the forest. When lumberjacks cut the pine trees they released an age old infestation of moths which immediately started killing everyone when the sun set. Oh and the slime guy who hid in Scully room by squeezing himself into and 6 x 8 air vent. posted by

Yeah! That creepy guy who only comes out to feed like, every 23 years or something, and he can squeeze into tiny vents! That guy was great! Or the one where Mulder and Scully were in two different dimensions at the same location in the desert. posted by

All are great episodes! Audrey, you're thinking of "Darkness Falls" and "Squeeze", both from season one. Cat, yep that Eugene Tooms is one creepy dude. Needs five livers every 30 years. Doug Hutchison is so good I'm shocked he doesn't do more (he was also Percy Wetmore in "The Green Mile") posted by

I'll only go see this movie if by at the end the timeline morphs back into the standard 1966 version. If that's not it and it's a reboot, this movie will go the way of Superman Returns and be ignored by any future Trek shows or films.
