Long Beach blogger wants to 'delete' Bakersfield

Bako haters are sometimes the slyest little creatures. They conceal their distaste of our fair city in the long (and often quite boring) paragraphs of their blog posts. They start talking about dogs and big beds and offer fascinating descriptions of dogs sleeping on big beds. And then all of sudden, what they really wanted to say all along gets forced to the surface in a moment of bubbling rage.

Such was the sad case of the Koji's Kitchen blog, coming to you from the pristine, golden shores of Long Beach.

Here's the offending paragraph:
"As it turns out, MFI and I are both on the tall side. We purposely got a humongous bed so we can stretch out in any direction and not hang over the edges. If we’d wanted a bed that was 2½ feet shorter, we would’ve gotten one and saved a bunch of money. So it’s not as if those extra couple of feet of length are extraneous, like, say, Bakersfield, which you could delete and no one would really mind. This is real estate we truly enjoyed owning."

Really? I don't think that's what he said: he said one could delete Bako, not that he wanted to, necessarily.

I'll tell you what, however: I'm not from Bako originally, so this puts me in the position of being able to see this from an outsider's perspective. You have to be able to take a little ribbing from folks. The inability to do so, or to take it so very seriously as you seem to have, really says a lot about your self-view.

Bako-philes would be doing themselves a great favor if they were able to laugh at our faults as a community.

Tell you the truth, I thought the guy's post was pretty funny.

Don't criticize.  This is the most exciting thing posted on Koji's Kitchen since it began.
