bakosphere - > Bakosphere -> An insulting scam!
An insulting scam!

Any time a business proposition includes the following phrases, we're all ears, or rather, the ears are all ours:

"obscure proposal of mutual interest," "this transaction shall be legally done without hitch," "I vehemently risk my job to send you this email," "kindly reach me back at this juncture."

Kindly stop trying to scam us with these poorly written missives!

Here's the e-mail (we left out the contact e-mail address, you know, just in case)

Kind Proposal

       Joseph Owor
Dean of  Faculty of Business Administration
       Uganda Christian University
       Mukono Town , Uganda.

I receive these on a daily basis.  I can't believe the stupidity.  I report them on a daily basis and hope some day they will be caught.

I'm still waiting for them to send me my check.

I've played games wth them.  SOmetimes I ignore them.  It can be funny if you get a gullible one.

I use to get these all of the time & when I did, I reported them just as dyna.

spam code: key qb (hmm, wonder if this is some kind of clue for me to bet on the Super Bowl this Sunday)

Reporting typically does little good as they are likely using resources that would not respond to polite requests to cut it out. At best, your ISP will add that text to their spam blocking tool. And I see jfrancis likes to partake of the fine sport of reverse-Nigerian-scamming.

"they walk among us"  comes to mind about the dumbass gullible people that fall for this crap.

on the contrary...i have read online posts of people who have scammed the scammers....pretty funny stuff

One of them last year wanted my phone number.  I gave 'em the White House Switchboard.

Probably got some of the bailout funds, come to think of it...

With all of the scams that get tried now a days the banks are being more careful about the types of checks they allow customers to deposit.   I have had to wait weeks sometimes for my funds to free up while my bank verified available funds on the accounts of the people paying me.  Thank goodness I didn't need that money immediately.

You are so right, jfrancais!

Having a little fun with scammers is a favorite past time of mine.  Particularly the phone scammers who want me to extend a warranty on my vehicle.

Hit the "2" and you can get a live person.  My record for tying them up with BS and double talk is around ten minutes.  I figure that's ten minutes they can't be bugging someone else.  I'll interrupt them to say, "hang on, someone's at the door" then let them start over and then say "Wait, my dog needs outside, be right back" then when they start over I say "Just a sec, son just put peanut butter up his nose"......etc.

See how many interruptions you can throw out there before they give up in exasperation.

I liked how one person on The Bob and Tom Show did once.  They recorded the  phone scammer with their pitch and the whole time  the scammer was talking to this guy the guy made moaning sounds as if he were in the throws of  passion" It was pretty hilarious. I've often thought about doing that if a telemarketer called here. But since I'm on the National Do Not Disturb list it's rare they call and  talk. They just call and hang up.
