Those mountains taunt us

Wonder how many of us have been feeling the same thing these past few days?

From a Sarah Castle tweet:

I would hate bakersfield a lot less if the sky wasn't clogged with smog. Those mountains are beautiful!

I remember being able to see the coastal mountain range as a kid and thinking "That's why they call it a valley"....

Just for giggles..try this...drive up Rancheria Rd.--(Pick-ups with GOOD tires) to the top where you see a park bench to your right...that will NOT be hard to find---the out look is the valley down below..don't worry about trees being in the way--you are above the tops of the trees--you see--on one side is the bench--on the other side is a drop-yet there are 40-60' top of the trees...really cool.and NO traffic--pack a lunch--take some wine--and listen to the wind blow..

At the end of this 'road' is the BIG parking lot of Sherly Meadows Ski Resort...takes 3 hrs to do WITH stops...
