Best french fries in Bakersfield?

Phil Prevost, guitarist of Bakersfield band The Blufs, and allegedly some kind of "French Fry afficionado," has given Face News his list of "Bakersfield's Best French Fries."

Topping Prevost's list of 10 recommended fry spots is Golden Ox on White Lane, followed by Root Beer King and Cindy's restaurant.

Bakosphere is partial to Tom's Famous Burgers on Rosedale Highway, which wasn't on Prevost's list.

We know you have your favorites that may not have made Prevost's list. Head on over to FaceNews and add to the list so we can ID worthy fry stops throughout town.

Good old McDonalds fries have always been my favorite. Short, sweet, sometimes crispy but always fatty and to the point.

Super Tom's on the corner of North Chester and Roberts Lane has my vote.  Their zucchini strips are also quite tasty.

Any fries, from anywhere, dipped in chocolate milkshake.

Gives them more nutritional value 'cuz of the milk in the shake :-)

I have to vote for the fries at Fishlips. They are sooo good!!

I say Jolly Cone on wible, i think those are pretty good. If you haven't tried the french fries there, then may i suggest you do. They put seasoning salt on them and there nice and soft.

posted by kbabe02 on Oct 8, 2009 at 06:43 AM

Jolly Kone is the best place for a burger and fries, period!  Also, the bacon-cheese fries at Moo Creamery are wonderful.

Dipping fries in anything other than ketchup or gravy is unnatural.  Where did I go wrong as a mother and mentor?

Nancy - I appall Ketchup/Catsup/Bluck-Sup - I LOVE that french fry dipping sauce, like pretend French Dressing...you can actually buy that now off the shelf at markets~Oh, and I also use mustard to dip in too. Or ranch dressing. My step-son dips in Chocolate Shake's (ew)

Don't knock the fries-dipped-in-chocolate shake until you try it. Delicious.

Done tried it, don't like it.  Both my kids loved it and obviously one still does.  (see Dreamifucan)

NancyII at the bakersfield park according to my hubby

posted by NancyII on Oct 8, 2009 at 10:39 AM

I've never eaten at the air park but people keep saying how good it is.  I don't like thick fries and not crazy about crinkle cuts.  I like them skinny like McDonalds and Burger King.  For seasoned fries you can't beat Checkers and Chuys..but someone already mentioned them

If I do eat the thicker fries I like lots of seasoning salt on them.

Root Beer King on Mt. Vernon and Niles.....Or........better yet, Root Beer King in Lamont.....end of story.

posted by lovemycountry on Oct 23, 2009 at 12:53 PM

Well, it's certainly not a chain restaurant.  What are some you thinking, my fellow bloggers?  :o)

LeeAnn got it right in Post #1.  Super Tom's in Oildale, NW corner of North Chester and Roberts Lane, makes the best fries in this area.

An honorable mention must also be given to the fab fries at Jerry's Pizza Downtown on Chester between 19th and 20th Streets.
