Bo Diddley - memories of a rockitect

One of the true architects of rock n' roll has passed - Bo Diddley.

Back in 1999, I was also fortunate to see Bo Diddley headline the annual Hootenanny in Irvine. He rocked that place filled with rockabilly heads and pin-up queens and taught them that rock n' roll wasn't a fashion statement, it was a way of life! He moved, grooved, and shook it all over...

Pat Evans from World Records booked Mr. Diddley at CSUB, back in 2005.
Local blogger NL Belardes was there doing some blogging and taking photos.

Bo wasn't his usual moving and grooving self, but once he hit his strings, it was on. The tunes, rhythm, and unmistakable sound was still there. Just watching him onstage, and realizing a living legend was in our presence was more than inspiring. Without Bo, there would be no rock and roll!!

I was revisiting that show today. It was one of the best shows of my band's career. Bo hung out on the side of the stage during our set, jammin to the Latin reggae ska and signed everyone's guitar, poster, or whatever they could get their hands on after his set.

If you'd like to revisit that show, just click on Bo's picture below.

Rock On, BO! Thanks for the music and memories!

Bo Diddley, dead at 79.  RIP

Bako, I didn't see your new blog here and posted one on the great man myself.  I deleted mine as you have a lot more videos of his.  Thanks for posting it.

The passing of a legend.

I can still feel the full skirts with crinolines and dancing to the music of the day.  Where did the time go?  It was only last week..........
