man, i'm so liberal i just can't stand that woman. cause she loves life and traditional values and i can't stand those things.

the media coverage of this woman has officially hit critical mass. i just heard that now disney has bought the rights to make a movie about her life. details are scarce, but the parts of palin and john mccain are set to be played by anna nichole smith and j. howard marshall, respectively.

i was pretty shocked by this, naturally and can only assume that this will be possible through some kind of cgi magic that i could never hope to understand. disney has deep pockets, as you know.

tinseltown is already buzzing about oscar, even if they are just technical achievement awards. the words "achievement" and "palin" are so seldom heard in the same sentance, i think they should just run with it. small victories are victories nonetheless.

so i'm making my rounds the other day when i see some bikers at a convenient store. at first i think, "awesome, it's bikers". see, i've always had a soft spot in my heart for outlaws. there's nothing cooler than someone who's prone to violence and challenging the status quo; bikers, black panthers and all sorts of revolutionaries.

anywho, upon closer inspection i noticed, very much to my confusion, that these bikers belonged to a christian motorcycle club. how exactly does that work? they certainly can't get wasted and beat people up like real bikers would do. what's the deal? their patches were all psalms and scripture where they should have been indicative of whether or not they had killed a man on the club's behalf or done hard time.

this seems like part of a larger trend in christianity to co-opt things that are cool and give them a christian edge for the purpose of giving their religion a broader appeal. it's all like a really messed up marketing scheme.

i see christian rock bands, christians with tattoos, christian horror books and now christian motorcycle gangs. someone even told me there's something called christian science, if you can wrap your mind around that. what's next? christian adult films? this seems like a form of religious extremism.

now, i'm not against religion. i think it's great. i just don't think it's very cool to take things that are more associated with the counter-culture and less than virtuous behavior, and try to make them seem pious just to fill the church's coffers. your religion should be appealing enough without having to spice up with a faux bad-ass image.

you can't have your cake and eat it, too. if you hitched your lot to religion, you should own it and embrace it as such. christians have been among the first to condemn outlaw motorcycle gangs and horror movies and rock and roll. you aren't a very good christian if you needed an organized religion to recant it's stance on something like rock music, in order to join up. churches should stop trying to sweeten the deal for these weekend warrior christians.

so there's this... http://www.bakersfield.com/...

i've got a new game, too. it's super easy to play, even for someone who's extremely dim. all you have to do is dehumanize anyone who thinks differently than you. that's it. even if you don't understand logic or politics or possess common sense, you too can play this game.

there are other parts to the game, of course, but you needn't worry about that. all you have to do is make people who think different than you seem like some sort of enemy or threat, and the psychopaths with guns will handle the rest.

the point of the game is to constantly play offense, but in the unlikely event that your back is against the wall cause some uppity liberal called you on your stupidity, play the victim. you see how that works? make it seem like you just cannot handle any more vicious personal attacks from the other side. do all this whist accusing people of racism and explaining how you, personally aren't racist and you just might get to host a show on fox news. all from playing a game!

the best part of this game is that no one will ever win. some people might think that's bad, but you have to look at the bigger picture. no one winning means the game goes on forever!

i can't wait until the war that these teabaggers constantly talk about comes. their reaction will be priceless when the kid gloves come off and they see what a small, fringe minority they really are.

wow! look at that sea of human cattle! i have to admit that i was wrong. i really didn't think that you could physically fit any more misinformed twits in washington, dc. my hat goes off to the organizational skills of the lobbying firms for generating such a great turnout. if only they could do that when it counts, like in an election. and of course you've got to give it up to their pudgy leader, mr. glenn beck. where else but in america, the greatest country in the world, could a mildly retarded man with a drinking problem  attain such wealth and fame based solely on their daddy issues and inability to understand complex ideas.

i do however, have somewhat of a grievance to air with mr. beck. you see, i like fomenting violent insurrection as much as the next guy, but you really need a lead rabble-rouser who doesn't look like the softest man in america. i get what he's trying to do, you know. he's the modern man, in touch with his emotions and not afraid to cry, but he seems weak. like he's not one of us. my suspicion is that it wouldn't be difficult to make him say that he's a woman. i say this only out of concern for the movement, comrades. i feel that, despite his impassioned rhetoric and hard line, liberty or death stance; in a physical confrontation against any adult of healthy height and weight... well let's just say mr. beck would probably start crying and saying he's a woman.

and the 9/12 project is a great idea. the tea parties and lemon parties. it's all really good stuff, but i believe i can improve upon it. hows about instead of trying to recreate the feeling we all had after 9/11, we try to go back to 9/10? that way, we can prevent armed and psychotic, religious extremists from influencing american policy forever. we've seen how well that's gone for us...

i was looking around craigslist today and i found this kid who is trying to sell his guitar to buy school clothes. that's pretty lame. here's the link if anyone around here is fortunate enough to maybe help this kid out...

 http://bakersfield.craigsli...

i don't know this kid's circumstances at all but having to sell something like this, in order to get the bare necessities, just hurts somewhere in the soul. it's not like they're selling video games or something. a musical instrument should be used to create and creation should be fostered in our community. i really hope this kid doesn't have to sell his guitar...

obama's healthcare reform will not go far enough. this country should demand single payer healthcare, right here, right now. socialized medicine. socialism. that is what this country needs and that is what it deserves. until this happens, unequivocally, i have no choice but to seriously question the sanity of anyone who considers this nation "great" or "just" or "generous".

to the knuckle dragging contingent; you know the ones who were able to slither out of the primordial ooze but are still too stubborn to take the next great leap, to you i pose a question:

what reason do you have to prevent people who are sick and wounded from receiving medical care?

how can this cause be anything but worthy? people say other countries that use this system have proven it to be problematic. to that i would say that i believe the ingenuity of the american people could overcome these obstacles. some of you seem to believe that the government is too inefficient to run such a program. to you i would suggest that, maybe you do a better job of electing you officials. at what point do people who complain about the effectiveness of the government look inward? considering that this is a democracy, it's not the government that's bad, but the citizens.

too many people think that the financial burden of such a system would be too great. that excuse, to me is the most pathetic of all. the implication is that money is more valuable than the health and well-being of your fellow man. to be fair, though, people who believe this do not deserve to be considered human. or american. or pious. what swine, who would willingly roll the dice for those who were not fortunate enough to enjoy the same financial circumstances as themselves.

ah, ignorance is bliss. let's all just look away and draw our lines in the sand. what smart animals we are to justify people suffering and dying from completely curable ailments. if there is a god, i hope he could forgive us for the things we choose to do to each other.

i just finished reading matt taibbi's latest article for rolling stone, "the great american bubble machine". you can read it here:

 www.scribd.com/doc/16752803/The-Great-Ameri can-Bubble-Machine

it's a depressing read, but i would recommend it to anyone who likes true crime. it's both amazing and disgusting to me how a handful of investment bankers were able to sell this country down the river, while politicians and media had it's citizens chasing an imaginary carrot on a string.

democracy? freedom? wealth? no. not today. probably never again. we, as a country, are slaves. we are worker bees in this big money making machine controlled by a small group of spoiled rich kids. they have outsmarted us and subverted our political system and all of our politicians. we are doomed.

i guess i should just go to sleep with the rest of the american people. at this point, it's the only way to experience "the american dream", if you're sleeping. wake me up when the blind and complacent citizens of this nation decide to pull the knives out of their backs and use them to carve up the greedy fiends who put them there and eat them. it'll be just like thanksgiving!

the last three record labels (are there still three?who knows?) came up with the brilliant idea to have the government impose a fee on radio stations for the music they air. the "performance tax" as it's known, is an attempt by record labels to obtain more money they didn't earn, to offset the dwindling sales of music they didn't create. needless to say, radio stations aren't pleased and have begun broadcasting anti-performance tax commercials brought to you by the national association of broadcasters.

i think, as a music fan, this is the best news i've heard in a while. noperformancetax.org claims that this fee, if imposed, would mean less music and fewer choices. however, those of us who listen to the radio, despite our love of music, know that they are a day late and a dollar short.

radio stations have followed the same blown-out and failed business model as the record companies despite the inevitable rise of technology. both institutions, rather than trying to modify their business model and adapt to this technological onslaught, opted to stay the course. they have failed miserably and should suffer. hopefully, they eat each other.

owning an mp3 player and a car stereo that is compatible with it, isn't too expensive anymore and everyday it gets cheaper. with the possibility of having thousands of songs on hand at all times, why would you bother with the dozen top-forty, disco, nonsense songs the radio is playing? same old thing, every hour, on the hour.

radio has done so much to kill the spirit of good music by validating trends and playing king-maker to "artists" that have been willing to conform to the corporate, family- friendly format, why should anyone care that they're in their death throes. as a culture, we have come to accept this crazy idea that, while there are countless talented musicians that deserve to be heard, they probably never will be. why?

generally, by the time most people hear of some great new artist, they've already been thoroughly vetted by clear-channel (the radio), viacom (mtv), and whatever subsidiaries of time-warner or news corp that own labels. it's all been sanitized for your protection. with the interest of these organizations being only money, whether through album sales or ad revenue, talent has taken a back-seat to marketability.

in short, the music industry has actively been influencing people's tastes to suit themselves. they have been knowingly selling an inferior product for many years now, and are surprised all of the sudden when people don't place any value on it. they have conducted themselves like a symbiotic parasite with no appreciation for art or talent or culture. who cares about them? if you heard of it through mainstream sources, it's probably crap and you should just steal it, right? i've been sold a bill of goods about rock stars being rich with these lavish lifestyles, they don't need the money, right? i certainly don't feel bad for some record exec. fat cat...

the music industry is reaping what it has sewn and i will not mourn it's passing. i only wish that, somehow the bottom feeders at ticketmaster and live-nation could get some of this. oh well, their time will come, too...

i've been thinking about it a lot, lately as it always seems to be a hot topic. i, for one, hate it. but to outlaw it... it just seems like a big government tax and spend solution. can you imagine how much it would cost to enforce? think drug war times probably about a billion. think about it, the aclu would be frothing at the mouth, just thinking about tying up our legal system for years, trying to take every case to the supreme court.

i think a better alternative would be for our society to foster the kinds of values that lead people to not want to have abortions. i think it's about how we look at sex. it should be thought of in terms of love rather than fornication. no children conceived in an act of love would be aborted. what a grand idea.

we should all just make more love for love's sake. not lust or boredom, but wild, raw, unbridled love. just some warmth. a little hard work. maybe work up a sweat. don't worry about what other people think or what you look like, it doesn't matter. just get down, and take care of business.

do you really think that liberals see obama as some sort of messiah? who has said that? honestly, can you think of a single instance when anyone has referred to obama as "messiah"?

if people really felt that way, why are they still so angry? what is they liberal agenda? is it socialism? free national healthcare? prohibition of guns? ending war?

think about these things and then consider that none of them have actually happened. i think what people are tired of are these ideological preemptive strikes. that's why your lack of support for this president seems suspect. for all of your fears, there hasn't been any evidence to support them. the kicker is, despite this, people have acted like we are in the worst case scenario. i do believe secession has been brought up as some sort of hail mary play.

as far as justifying this outrageous behavior by saying that the left protested bush, you've missed the mark. you aren't validating your own protest. you're saying," they did this, so why can't i?" do you see how that argument doesn't make your dislike of obama any more credible? just because people didn't like bush?

and the vast majority of people who protested during the previous administration, were protesting the iraq war. you should remember, there is a difference between protesting a man's policy and protesting a man. it's not unreasonable to be against war, no matter if a liberal president started it or a conservative. if barack obama started a preemptive war, i know all those same people would be protesting it.

i also seem to remember that despite how polarizing george bush's policies were, no one ever questioned his citizenship. no one ever questioned his loyalty to this country. no one ever questioned his religious faith.

and just one more thing, to all the people angry about obama "apologizing" to foreign leaders, do you feel like it's necessary to apologize when you've done something wrong? i know that doesn't make sense to a lot of you, as you don't believe this country's done anything wrong, but think about it. obama perceives some of the policies over the last eight years as deserving of an apology. i think most of the people who voted in the 2008 election agree with him, hence his election. now, if you believed that you had honesty done something wrong, would you apologize for it? even if it made you feel weak, would you ever be able to acknowledge when something hasn't worked and concede that point? this isn't rhetorical, i would like an honest answer.

when compared to the dire circumstances our country and even our planet are in, these grievances seem petty and only distract us from the significant problems we face.  the overwhelming majority of people are willing to work hard and pay their taxes. they deserve a decent wage and a piece of the american dream. they should be able to go to the doctor when they are sick and raise their children in a safe and warm environment. no one likes poverty or war or prejudice. do these things classify someone as a liberal or a conservative?
