Dr BLTrivia question of the day:How many years did it take Black Santa by Dr BLT to hit the top 30?

The year the song was first recorded was 1992.  The song was called Black Santa.  It was Dr BLT's first Christmas song to crack the top 30 at mp3000.net.

The song tells a story about a black man trying to get a job as Santa Claus.  This old school rap Dr BLTune features Michael C., a rap artist out of Oakland, California, who was residing right Bakersfield at the time Dr BLT took it to his studio to record.

Here's the question: How many years did it take for this Dr BLTune, to hit the top 30 on the internet chart then known as mp3000.net?

The winner gets a free, autographed copy of the forthcoming new Dr BLT Christmas CD, Certified Gold, Incense and Myrrh, but to collect, you have to be at the CD release party/CD signing on December 1 at Russo's Books at the Marketplace at 6 pm.

The first person to correctly answer the question wins.

OK, I'll admit I don't navigate well on the Internet.  But I went to mp3000.net and looked for the song Black Santa by Michael C and by Dr BLT, but I couldn't find it.  But I'll venture a guess anyway, since it's a contest and you're offering such a kick*** prize.  My guess is, and you're the one who said years, three years, yes, Dr. BLT, that's my final answer.  Three years.

Not even close, but great effort!  Here's a hint (this is for everyone): It took one hell of a long time for this song of mine to climb this top mp3s download chart.

I'm not sure the song is still posted at mp3000.  I found it here, but had difficulty downloading my own song from this site:

Okay, my guess is 2 years. I sure hope I win, that way I can spend $10 worth of gas, round trip, to drive to the Marketplace, on a Saturday evening at 6pm, where all the little troublemakers are loitering, find parking, stand in a line, and pick up a free CD worth what, $7? (Please excuse my sarcasm, but I could not resist).

Since three years was my Final Answer, can I use one of my life lines?  (I have no idea what that means, but I heard it on a game show)

My next guess is 14 years.

Old Blue, you're cold, but keep trying.  And, though I was initially reluctant, you've convinced me to add bonus tracks to compensate for the rising gas prices.  I don't mind the sarcasm.  As far as sarcasm goes, yours is of the friendly variety compared to other examples I've come across.

dgrealish, you're getting extremely close.  If nobody gets the exact number of years, the closest one wins, so you're the most likely, at this point, to win.

Edit: I found certain info. on another Bakersfield website. Am I close? :)

Dr, can you give a bonus question regarding either Genesis or Eric Clapton? That way I might have a sliver of a chance.

Here is that bonus question:

What role, if any, did Dr BLT recently play in bringing the members of Genesis back together for a worldwide tour?

The prize you will win, if you answer the question correctly, is a front-row VIP seat at the event.
