Don't Fear the New Year: Dr BLT collides with Blue Oyster Cult to counter psychology of fear
Maybe I put too much stock in music, but, idealistic as it may seem, I believe that music has the power to be an ally in the war on terror---a weapon of mass construction if you will.  In the psychological operations of the military (psyops), the threat is real, and it is psychological.  The threat is fear.  If terrorists can use the assassination of pro-democratic world leaders and the mass murder of scores of civilians via homicide bombings to raise fear levels around the world, then they are winning.

But boldness, courage and resolute determination are greater than fear, and to these characteristics, we must firmly and resolutely affirm and uphold.  Face the New Year.  Face the Music.  Face the fear head on.

I hope you enjoy my adaptation of Blue Oyster Cult's classic, Don't Fear the Reaper.  Don't Fear the New Year is free if you promise to use it as a weapon of mass construction against the forces of fear and darkness.  You can find it on my free mp3 album at:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks, dgrealish.  I would have loved to see Van Morrison as well.  Many of his songs roll around in my head periodically, including Brown Eyed Girl.  What a great song that is!  I appreciate your compliment on my new take on an old classic and, as always, I appreciate your comments.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Just arrived home after two days in San Francisco.  We were there to see probably my favorite artist of all time, Van Morrison.  It was my third time seeing him at this venue.  What a great way to wrap up the year!  He was a little testy this time around, even offering up the "F" word to an obnoxious audience member, but he always wins my heart when he sings Brown Eyed Girl.  I swear each time, he's singing to me. (As does each and every brown eyed girl in the audience)  And he ended the evening with the THEM hit, GLORIA.

I enjoyed "Don't Fear the New Year".  I'll keep replaying it in my head until the message sticks.  Keep passing along the music, Dr. B.  It brings us joy!  Happy New Year to you and yours.
