BAKERSFIELD SOUNDoff: I bet you can't name one current Kern County country singer under age of 25

That's the BAKERSFIELDSOUNDoff challenge this afternoon.  Let's see if you can meet it and rise to the occasion.

In the game of blog n roll, I usually provide the music and the introduction, and you tell the rest of the story in the comments section.  This time, to make a statement, I have included no music.  For those who need that statement spelled out, it means that there is a conspicuous country music drought in Kern County among our young people.

This is not to say that there isn't young country music talent out there.  It's simply saying that if there is, nobody is listening, nobody is paying attention, and nobody is supporting that would-be country star's talent.  Am I wrong?  Prove it here today, right here, right now.

Ready?  Set?  Blog n roll!

What is this "country" you speak of?

 Cisco? Diane Digarmo?

Well, you won't hear much of it, witbee, in Bakersfield, not if involves anybody under the age of 25.  Jfranais, I didn't really picture these artists you mention as being either local, or country, by any stretch of the imagination.  Perhaps you could enlighten me.

I can't name one of any age.

Reliable sources tell me that Random decided one day to be a singing star. He belted out a song, and shattered every window for a three-block radius. The residents never did find out who was responsible.

Well if that's the case, Random's debut had an impact  on the local scene :)

In the field of music, I strive to be that "horrible example*" folks point to as they pursue jobs in engineering rather than turn up at American Idol tryouts.

But I don't qualify, having passed the 25-year-old cutoff some 25 years ago.

*Although my spouse is, arguably, worse. :)

RF, I woulda figgerd you fer a  "musically talented" type too................

Just shows ta go ya

I play the kazoo pretty well BTW.

Of coors I also won  "best back of the head"  in a body building contest once too............

Were I a "musically talented" type, I'd have nothing to do with "country," anyway.  Just gospel.

you can't do gospel on a kazoo?

I know ya can't do it in shower

(paper gets wet)

posted by hotcorner on Mar 7, 2008 at 08:53 AM

The Fresno Philharmonic has two kazoo players.

 Yer pushing my leg corner!

Hell I gotta get me a new comb

One without all that BrylCream buildup. Paper sticks to it and ruins tonal qualities!

Had a black friend who used a "pick"

The teefs were so far apart he just natcherally transitioned into hip hop then mega bass and finaly rap............ 4 X 4 beats, I guess it was a fait au complait..........
