There are no new country acts in B-Town right now because country music isn't very exciting. Modern country music tends to be cross-over, fusion-type stuff. It stinks out loud. The Bakersfield sound doesn't sound all that good on modern equipment. And, of course, no country acts on American Idol.

Yeah, and take Ronnie Dunn and his "Just For Men" - no one that's 53 years old has a beard with no gray - tar and feather him, and run him out of the country.

I like Jennifer Nettles, though. Sara Evans, too. I wondered how long it would take Sara to dump that Oregonian...

Well, I may be a "1 trick pony" on the subject (though I do have a few more tricks up my sleeve), as you say, but I plan to beat this dead horse until I find some answers that satisfy me.

Country music isn't very exciting because nobody is making it exciting.  It wasn't exciting back then either, until people like Buck Owens and the gang came around. 

If modern country music "stinks out loud," then it's up to the new generation to take it to the next level by adopting that rebellious attitude of the Bakersfield Sound era, but translating it into a sound that a new generation can relate to. 

 Just wandering around through the "Streets" of Bakersfield.com.  It looks like you've all given me the last word, and for that, I'm grateful :) Knock on wood!

 Please give it a rest, I still can`t understand what you are trying at do? You are not from here , your parents were not from here, your GRANDparents were not from here, the folks that made the Bakersfield sound were from here. It`s gone my freind, it can never be again, why go through the agony of a project that will end in a product that will be inferior, what are you looking for? Just give it a rest and let us rememberit as it was before you dilute it into what you think it should be. Is there a point that you come to that you must step back and maybe you can call your mission "the new improved digital modern no hardship Bakersfield sound" . there you go....you have a mission that can be achieved, best that accept reality my son. I hope you find what you are trying to find, why can`t you just enjoy what was instead of trying to dig up something that the enviroment will NEVER be right for again? Why not be a pioneer in the new" Bakersfield we are totally funked in the economy we lived too good and now we must pay the piper" sound. Alot of heartache going on now, focus on the present issues, the past issues are the past and they only want to left alone to remember as it was.......

 Just a thought... I remember the first time I heard " I got a tiger by the tail". It is so vivid... I was out at the end of Cottonwood road where the East Bakersfield FFA had thier pigs, I was feeding my uncles pigs for auction at the Kern County Fair and thinking about what new tractors would be there for me to climb on and be in my own world while my uncles cried at the sale of thier pets to be butchered and take thier blue ribbons home, The corn on the cob and the cotton candy and the FACT that I could run around and do what I wanted to do with no fear at the age of 8 at the Kern County Fair and listen to the radio sitting on the pens with all the best live stock from Kern County looking at me the night before they were auctioned . Just a flash... now it`s gone.....good times no more
