The Streets of Bakersfield are Closed, but there's a short film, and a soundtrack on the way

That's right, the streets of Bakersfield, (once closed to Homer Joy, until he wrote a song that would re-open them for him and others) are closed once again to new artists trying to break into the local music scene.

With Trout's open jam sessions, and with the mentoring spirits of old-timers (like Lloyd Reading, who has reached out to members younger generations, like Hank Ray, who treasure his talents), that may change soon.  But in the meantime, the streets remain closed until further notice.

If you're new, and are consistently, kicked around, rejected, and made to feel like a complete and utter outcast, (like Homer was before Streets of Bakersfield was covered by Buck), you now have to go.  You'll need to go underground to gain acceptance.

And underground is exactly where you'll catch the lyrics and be able to sample the final mix of this original Dr BLTune, The Streets of Bakersfield Are Closed.  So head underground tomorrow, July 8, 2008 for that action.  More specifically, head to:

Bakersfield Sound Underground

http://www.bakersfieldsound...

The song may have found a home on the soundtrack of Hank Ray's forthcoming short film, or perhaps Part II of that feature.   We'll have to wait and see.

Remember, if you ain't goin' underground, you ain't goin' anywhere.  Have a great week!
