This song's about my grandpa: Who's your favorite "All-American Cowboy"?

Good morning everyone!  I'd like to introduce you to my grandpa.  He's been deceased for a few years now, but in Montana, his legacy is still alive.  To hear his story, read these lyrics and/or activate the music play station posted here by hitting the play button.

The song, All-American Cowboy, is brand new, recorded in the BuckarooM, my personal home studio.

This is a blog n roll blog, so here's how it works: I supply the topic and the tunes.  You supply the talk.  So if this song sparks any memories of an all-American cowboy you've always admired, even if it's Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, or John Wayne (or an all-American cowgirl), share it in the comments section below.

Ready?  Set?  Blog n roll!

All-American Cowboy from CD, Trout's Tall Tales

All-American Cowboy

words and music by Dr BLT copyright 2008

I'm an all-American cowboy

watch me ride

watch me ride

I'm an all-American cowboy

filled with all-American pride

from the hillsides of Montana

ropin' steers with my son, Bill

I'm an all-American cowboy

back in Wolf Point

and in Lustre

well, they call me Peter Weins

'bin a cowboy in Montana

since I was in my teens

everywhere I go

I'm recognized for my big cowboy smile

I'm an all-American cowboy

well, you might as well paint my heart

red, white and blue

'cause us American cowboys

are a patriotic few

raised by my family

on the Bible

yes, it's true

I'm an all-American cowboy

He was always my favorite. Died in 07. Know who he was?

Jim Shoulders. Won seven bull riding titles.

OMG Michael, I can't believe you put that up there.  No one I ever mention it to has ever seen it and it's one of the funniest westerns around.  I've had the movie for years and still pull it out to watch from time to time.

Although for cowboys, you shoulda named Kirk Douglas.  He and Whiskey were awesome.  All Arnie did was drive a buggy.

Yeah, but when is the last time you met a guy whose given name was "Handsome Stranger"?

You got me there.  Old Kirk did have a boring plain name huh?  Cactus Jack ...lol

As Richard Dawson would say JBS:

Good answer!

Richard Dawson is dead. He was playing golf, and one of your herds "accidentally" stampeded right over him and squashed him flatter than a pancake.

Chico!!! That youtube clip was absolutely hysterical. I was laughing out loud so hard that my two year old is totally confused.

And all I was looking for was something of Richard Dawson's to show JBS that Richard will never really be dead :rotflmao:

I'm finding these comments/pictures very entertaining.  LOL.  These made my day!

Dawson may never be dead, but let's hope that the bloodline in that family dies with young Bob...
