Madonna: Like a Nazi: Condemned by the ADL for the very first time: Hitler-McCain link in poor taste
Madonna may be a shrewd business woman, a smooth, ebullient performer and entertainer, and she's come out with some pretty catchy, bouncy dance grooves. She can even pull off slower songs like Take a Bow. And the girl has staying power. Nobody can knock her in that respect. But Madonna's never had a great singing voice. Therefore, she's always resorted to cheap gimmicks to sell herself. Shock and awe is what I'm talking about. Playing tongue-tug-of-war with Britney and, more recently, hooking up Justin Timberlake, Britney's ex, an artist young enough to be her grandson, has paid off big time. Though her albums rarely crack the top 40 anymore, she was able to hit the gym and look pretty slim and fit just in time for a video shoot that featured her latest number one hit, 4 Minutes. She's always used gimmicks to get across her ill-conceived political messages as well. Her latest trick was no exception, and this was the feedback she received from the ADL (in Market Watch): ADL Condemns Madonna's Use of Hitler in Concert Photo MontageNEW YORK, Aug 25, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today condemned as "inappropriate and offensive" the use by Madonna of an image of Hitler as part of a concert photo montage that also included photos of John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, and Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe. The images were projected on a screen as Madonna launched her world tour with a live concert in Cardiff, Wales.
Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director and a Holocaust survivor, issued the following statement:
Comparisons to Hitler have no place in a music concert, or in the presidential campaign.
Whatever Madonna's political or personal views, it is outrageous to invoke Nazi imagery in the context of John McCain's candidacy or to make a comment on American political leadership.
It is inappropriate and offensive to compare any current or former world leaders with the man ultimately responsible for the death of six million Jews and the suffering of countless others during the Holocaust. Doing so trivializes the history of the Holocaust and is an insult to the memories of the victims and their families.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

Not too many people (like, nobody) pay serious attention to Madonna's political views. I wouldn't mind spending an afternoon with her, but we wouldn't be talking about politics... posted by

Being a rich dysfunctional celeb seems to also be an entitlement to be stupid. It's a shame that a respected career can be diminished by self-destruction. I am subject to the impressions they convey. If I hear Britney or Michael Jackson mentioned I automaticly think psycho and pedophile, over their musical accomplishments. If Bridgett Bardo, Bono, or George Clooney are mentioned I think animal rights and involvement with human betterment in Africa--humanitarian causes. Opra is a humanitarian; Paris is an air head. All in how they present themselves. posted by
