What's your secret to staying cool in Bakersfield?

Fill 'er up, it's a lot less expensive than filling up with gas, or buying a real cement pond.  Once you get past the embarrassment of being called a redneck by a few highfalutin city folk, sitting in your very own pick-up/pool is a great way to beat the heat.

While you're at it, you may want to download my new song, scheduled for release on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at my official website:

http://www.drblt.net

(hit music, and head for songs from the CD, From Buck Owens Blvd. to Merle Haggard Drive).

Then crank it from the cab of your pick-up/pool.   After a day in the pick-up/pool listening to the song over and over again, critique it at my website.

The release announcement and a sample will be available tomorrow also at:

BSU (Bakersfield Sound Underground)

Have you got any other tips for cooling off in Bakersfield, like the tips I've introduced with these photos.  If so, share them here.

I love their style!

As for me, reclining on my swing under a canopy of trees.    The revolving fan is blowing air over me while I eat peaches and cottage cheese and drink ice water.

Also I'm reading World War Z.

That all sounds great to me.  Stay cool.  LOL.

LOL BLT!  Those pictures are awesome!

I'm staying cool by cleaning my house.  I know it sounds counter-intuitive to do physical labor when it's hot, but it just seems to me that my house looks cooler when it's clean, and so I feel cooler when my house is organized.  Also--I'm drinking lots of iced tea.

There is this modern thing called air conditioning, maybe they should try that out.

CatherineBaker, you and my wife both seem to be on the same page when it comes to the whole cleaner is cooler persepctive.  As for you, s810, are you trying to put a damper on all of that redneck creative ingenuity out there?  LOL.

s810, you must not be watching KGET news to see all the people whining about their electric bill because they used their A/C during the July heat waves.

Close the shades--set your A/C at 78 and use fans to circulate to cool air throughout the place....

An ice cold tomato beer also helps----works for the LING............

I stay cool in Bakersfield by staying OUT of Bakersfield. The horrible heat in one reason I only work here, I do not live here.

I stay cool at AMISTOYS ON THE HILL
